Nan Hua Performing Arts Group佛光山南非南華寺天龍隊

Description

In the year 2013 the Great Venerable Master Hsin Yun urged Nan Hua temple to start an art-performing group.
The group was established in the year 2014,with the help of Venerable Master Hui Fang. The aim of this group is to give young single healthy girls who have finished Matric an opportunity to learn Chinese and African arts.
During their first year, they will start with African Traditional dance and learn how to play indigenous instruments and music theory. Also getting a chance to do computer literacy and the Chinese language. In their second year, they will then start with Chinese Arts, which includes Dragon Dance, Chinese Drum, Chinese Dance( Folk and Modern). And in their third year they will get to gain other skills and perfect their ability combining African and Chinese Arts together. Every year, the girls will have an opportunity to travel to different countries around the world, performing and training. Not only do you learn on how to perform, but you also learn life skills and leadership skills. You'll be able to gain confidence and getting used to how to work with other people. This is a stepping stone for getting into the arts field and achieving your dreams as a performer.

Mission

We hope that through multi-cultural engagement we can empower young black South African girls to enter the performing arts arena.

A quiet, clean religious environment that is relaxing to be in. In addition, very beautiful spaces for photography. The important thing is that the temple is open on working days until 2 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays until 3 pmVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
What a beautiful temple! It's so peaceful and serene. The monks are friendly and it's looked after so well. All the artwork, statues and even the architecture is kept clean and in excellent condition. I've attended one of it's Chinese New Year Festivals and it was a spectacular event. There were lots of celebrations and lots of stalls with food and merchandise to be bought and it was just overall a fun experience. I'd definitely recommend it and I'll definitely be returning again.
Chinese New Year was our reason to visit this temple. Culturally, it was a pleasant and enjoyable experience, with great spiritual meaning too. It’s worth the long drive to Bronkhorstspruit to view the temple, learn about Buddhism and experience a moment of inner peace and renewal. There’s safe parking. For Chinese New Year celebrations there were also numerous food stalls. There’s also a museum / shop. Take cash as not many of the vendors have card facilities.
Beautiful, well- maintained temple. I was surprised that it was so quiet but it definitely added to the serenity of the place. The main temple has breathtaking Buddha statues and you can't photograph it so you've got to see it to believe it
Very beautiful, peaceful and tranquil place. Has been closed the few times we have gone past. The structures are breathtaking
Went for the Chinese New Year this year and it was beautiful. The heat can get you, so ensure that you bring an umbrella with. Stalls were great and the culture was amazing. Many stalls didn't take card, so keep cash on hand as well. Place was neat and clean and all was willing to help and assist.
Chinese new year festival... the year of the rabbit... what an amazing event with amazing vibe and amazing food... will definitely visit the temple again on a nit so busy day. #grateful
I went for the Chinese New Year cultural festival 2023 the year of the rabbit. What an immersive experience, it was very well organized and a truly spectacular day out. Not too far from Joburg/ Pretoria and well worth the drive out for a visit.
It was a beautiful experience, the temple was grand. I volenteers where friendly. Definitely a place I will visit again.
Visited the temple with two friends. The place needs to be rejuvenated a bit. The interiors are great, loved the smell coming from that "smoke" and loved the sculptures inside the temple, but outside... the temple could use some paint. I really loved the long descriptions about the period of time when x and y happened, but I think they need to put a bit more of them. You have to take your shoes off in the second temple, and phones are not allowed inside any of the temples except the smallest one that has a green roof. You kind of have to walk small but considerable distances to end up taking a few pictures. Getting to the toilet is a slight ride and the toilets are not that clean. I particularly remember this one Asian lady that gave me a flyer in the second temple and explained where I had to go because she was nice. It was a nice experience, but If you decide not to visit this place will not miss out on anything extraordinary.
