Queues going out the door. There is 1 staff member on duty doing registration, payment, the actual testing, everything... it's just pathetic, slow and just a complete mess. Cape Town International Airport.
Absolutely, incredibly pathetic. Pre-booked an appointment for 08:30 at Cape Town Airport. There were other people queueing even before 08:00. Two hours later they were still not even open. Went to Dischem instead, around the corner. Dischem was swamped but gave great service nonetheless, and helped us inside 30 minutes. EDIT BASED ON RESPONSE: Thank you for your response and very sorry to hear about your nurse. When we left the airport however, there were no signs/notifications/explanations or persons directing people elsewhere.
PLEASE don't come here if you can help it. I came to get a rapid covid-19 test before travelling abroad. I arrived at OR Tambo airport at 10:30 AM for my 4:35PM flight. Their lab only opened at 1pm and it took them longer than the promised 2hrs to get the test results. I missed my flight and had to book another hotel room for the night. Furthermore, most who I dealt with were not even remotely sympathetic at all. Except for one person, Hope, who not only managed to solve many problems but was very communicative, empathetic and professional. I may have been there longer if it wasn't for her. Go to dischem, they seemed more efficient and organized
I wish I would have read the reviews before booking. We booked and prepaid for 7 am for our 11 am flight. Their booking allows for bookings as early as 6 am. We showed up at 6:30 ready to go. An employee showed up went to the tent and didn’t acknowledge the people waiting. Finally 7 rolls around and they’re still not open. She said they don’t open til 8 doesn’t even acknowledge that they let me book online for 7 at this point there’s several other people waiting. 8 comes and we had to fill out everything we already filled out online. The nurse is MIA at this point and finally who’s up at 8:20. Apparently the 2 hour clock starts when they take you test so we come back at 10 hoping for our results. The employee had to call the lab 4 times because our results were ready they just didn’t send them through. Luckily my husband checked us in online otherwise by the time our results came we missed the check in window. We nearly missed our flight and unfortunately 3 of the other people waiting did. This place is horrific. They over charge for tests then their hours are wrong online and take bookings for hours they’re not even open.
To 100% their fault, we missed our flights. Do not go here. We made an appointment for a PCR test one week in advance online, called them to double check, chatted in their live chat to triple check, and we walked by the clinic earlier on the day of our flight to quadruple check if we could do the test later that evening. Each and every time the answer was yes, we can do the test in the evening not a problem whatsoever. In the evening when we came back, they said that they don’t do PCR tests in the evening and that we should’ve checked with them earlier. Don’t go here.
This place should get zero. Booking an appointment is useless as they just ask you to go to the back of the queue regardless. Completely unprofessional and pointless. Avoid and be prepared to miss your flight. Cape town airport
Booking an appointment is useless. Appointment got rescheduled same day to 1.5h earlier but the Appointment still made no difference. The given form was wrong, another form must get filled in online could have been sent before by mail, after filling in 3rd form they thought the test have been taken already so waiting time got even longer. After 1h we asked for status but apparently it takes 2-4h instead of the 25 minutes!!!!! After 4 h test result wasn't ready because instead of a antigen test they sent it for a PCR test. No further comments...
I was there at 12h00 on the 29th of Wednesday. There was a queue, but nothing exaggerated. The staff was very helpful, guiding us through the process. It went smoothly and the queue dissapeared very soon! Three hours later, I received my test results. Thank you so much and keep up the good work!
Service terrible with no courtesy. We accompanied a friend who pre booked for antigen. The staff has no regards for clients and don’t even bother to explain processes instead are inside chatting not even checking on clients waiting to be tested. OR Tambo service sucks…..sorry…..
Took samples and was promised results in 24 hours, 36 hours later, we were told pour results are not ready yet. That inconvenienced our vacation and had to miss it and lost our money. This was at O.R Tambo. R. Not recommended.
