I came the hospital and gave birth to my baby on the 19 January 2023. The maternity ward staff were all good to me except this one lady by the name of Thobeka Mweli that lady really showed me that its no longer really nursing but its just a job. She got mad when i ring the bell for anything and was rude when u speak to her she just wanted us to lie in bed and not say anything even when u in pain. Cos if u say anything she gets mad and start to be rude. Please we dont need such people, the management must do something cos i wasn’t the only one complaining about her.
Wonderful hospital. The ward I was in has the most kindest nurses and sisters and the theatre staff are caring and kind. I did not get the name of the sister that did the prep work when I just got there and helped me with taking my vitals but she was so lovely! She made my day with her wonderful sense of humor and warm personality. Thank you for remaining my favorite hospital!
A massive thank you to all the staff who treated me at Netcare Olivedale Hospital yesterday. From admission to the nurses in Section 7 ward and the theatre staff, all of whom were amazing! A special thank you to Sister Besse who took exceptional care of me, was consistently visible, present and attentive in every interaction with her. I immediately felt calm and had full trust in everyone based on how I had been treated. I cannot thank you enough for the amazing care and kindness provided. My only recommendation is to improve the service provided at the pharmacy. Each person waited an average of 20 mins in the queue and after being discharged and being a little unsteady from the medication, having to wait in line for medication was not ideal. Furthermore, the one ointment that I needed was not in stock. The pharmacist advised that I should go to another Clicks pharmacy and get the ointment. However she did not advise that the supplier was no longer manufacturing the ointment. I ended up spending an hour on the telephone to 5 other pharmacies in the area checking if they have stock, only to eventually be told that its no longer being manufactured. I then informed the doctor who prescribed a different ointment. And then I had to pay cash for that ointment as I had to get it from another pharmacy. Had the Netcare pharmacist called the doctor based at the hospital and asked for an alternate ointment, I wouldn't have had to go through all the effort of figuring this information out for myself. With the exception of the pharmacy issue, my whole experience overall was amazing and I will not hesitate to return to Olivedale hospital should there be a need to. Thank you once again!
I wish to thank the emergency staff & Dr Rob Routier his cardiologist for having saved my husband Mark Thomas's life , we are forever grateful. I found my husband collapsed & unresponsive on the bathroom floor, I called an ambulance who took us to the Sandton Clinic as it was the closest hospital who refused to admit him as they said they couldn't verify our medical aid, they should have stabilized him at the very least as he has a pulmonary embolism. What a different experience we had at the Olivedale Clinic, from the fantastic doctors & staff in the emergency room, to the ICU nurses. The Olivedale Clinic is the only hospital we will go to should we have an emergency in the future Thanks again Sarah Thomas
The maternity ward was lovely when I had my baby there 18 months ago, however todays experience was not as great. After coming home with the child who has a very ugly cough... She has now started vomiting and when calling the emergency staff to speak to the Dr I was told he was busy and I did not opt to do an x ray, or bloods so the blame was put onto me, very rude staff working at the emergency Counter. I feel rather disappointed in my experience today, I don't think I will be back.
We took my husband to the ER after he was struggling to sleep with stomach pains for 2 days. ER doctor told us it’s the alcohol he was drinking on Saturday and we were sent back home. Mind you that’s Tuesday morning, 1am. In the morning we consulted our family GP for a second opinion, we were immediately sent to another hospital for emergency tests and scans as his appendix was suspected to have a problem. Least to say he was admitted immediately by the specialist and operated within a few hours. His appendix was already leaking and I still say this is the worst ER@ Olivedale, he could have died had we not rushed to the family doctor first thing in the morning. I will never recommend this hospital to anyone.
Clean and very nice nurses in the maternity ward. But I had the worst doctor, Dr Viljoen, he was very neglectful and used to rush through my checkups when I was pregnant and I ended losing my baby over something he could have detected and could have helped. Don’t see that doctor if you go there !!!
The worst emergency experience ever. My 5 year old sat for over an hour with a brken arm whilst the staff coouldn't be thered to help her! We we never seen by an ER doctor! And they are trying to charge us nevertheless!
Was last at olivedale hospital ER a couple of months ago...3 hours to get my daughter checked was bad enough.. this time round after nearly 2 hours of sitting in the waiting room, I called it quits...only 3 doctors were apparently on site....waiting room was so full there was no seats available so quiet a few people were standing waiting to see a doc. When I wanted to leave because I really couldnt wait any more, I actually got told that I can't leave until I explain to the head nurse why I'm leaving. Unbelievable...never again.
Not impressed by Netcare Olivedale Hospital. From the ER to the ward staff to the accounts department. Unfriendly, unresponsive and unhelpful. Oh, and the slow dispensary at the pharmacy! We will most definitely not be making use of your services in future. We will gladly drive a bit further for better service. Your patients are your clients after all and we can take our money and our medical aid's money elsewhere. The 2 stars are for the one or two ward staff that did put in some effort and were at least friendly.
