This must be the biggest & most well-presented library I've ever visited. The staff were very polite, the selection of reading material is unreal and the building is very clean & tidy. I only had the chance to stop by for 5 minutes like a total tourist I turned up 10 minutes before closing time but I'd love to visit again and see what the library has to offer. Fantastic place.
I've been visiting this library and it's predecessor since I was a child. Now in my 50s I'm still a regular. I've done course, borrowed so many books, brought my daughter, her friend, cousins. I've used tge computers for assignments l, bought gifts and drank coffee. Sometimes I just ride the lift to the top just for the view... sad that it's reduced its opening times as its a real community hub.
A good place to read a book or work on your laptop, away from the hassle of the city centre. It is ‘more than perfect’ place to socialise - I have always met friendly people who like to chat. There are: 1. A coffee shop with limited options good enough though; 1. three-hour computer access; and 2. printing and photocopying However, the City Library is rather limited in terms of borrowing books.
Very helpful and nice staff. Was really stressed out by not being able to print and they sat with me until they got it all sorted for me. As it was due to a system error. They made me feel very welcome in the library. 5*****
Didnt like layout, far too many murder books by same authors, very little range then to see if a book is in if you know what you want that is, you have to go onto your phone for the library catalogue...What if you dont have a phone? I got no response to that question. I gave up & left without a book & Very disappointed . 3 stars as guy on downstairs help desk was helpful
The library is well presented and the staff are friendly. They didn't know they could scan documents into pdf and save it on a USB on the photocopier which turned out to be Time consuming for me. So maybe that could be updated. Other than that, place is a safe haven.
I preferd the old central library, call me old fashioned but I like libraries with books and silence. This modern interpretation of a library is part creche with screaming children, plus I don't like sharing a space with the city's drug addicts. My heart goes out to any students trying to study and to general members of the public who just want some peace and quiet to read and relax.
The ground floor dealt with the ticket renewal very professionally and in a helpful manner. The new cafe served an extensive menu including vegan, dairy free and not sure about gluten free. The library is well stocked and very well labelled so finding the shelve you require is easy. The people leading the craft workshop were extremely enthusiastic and friendly to everyone although we did join in the end.
Fantastic library with a welcoming atmosphere and lovely, helpful staff.
Busy and vibrant. Lots of good shops . loads of good restaurants. Cafés and bar. The best city in England
