Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town is a South African cricket ground. It is the home of the Cape Cobras, who play in the Sunfoil Series, Momentum 1 Day Cup and RamSlam Pro20 competitions. It is also a venue for Test matches, ODIs and T20Is. Newlands is regarded as one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world, being overlooked by Table Mountain and Devil's Peak. It is close to Newlands Stadium, which is a rugby union and football venue. The cricket ground opened in 1888.20,195 people attended the first Big Bash cricket match at the Newlands Cricket Ground in 2016.Official nameThe ground's official name is "PPC Newlands" as of October 2015, acknowledging a commercial sponsorship arrangement. It is still often referred to by its historic name, simply "Newlands".HistoryThe title deed for the land currently containing the ground was granted to a brewer, Jacob Letterstedt in 1845, who then presented it to his daughter, Lydia Corrina, as a wedding present upon her marriage to the Vicomte de Montmort.

My Anyhoo's....it's been a while since I've been to Newlands, 9 years to be exact. And I must say that it's not the Newlands I remember. The seats were dirty, they had old massive signs stored at the back of the seats. Two food stalls open, toilet paper didn't get replaced in the ladies room...I was quite taken a back and a disappointed. The president's suites were spotless though... the least they could have done was clean the seats...So ...and Until next time...

There was only one eatery open, resulting in long lines most of the time we were there. Suggestion would be that more establishments need to be opened at such events. The seating need to be cleaned more often. The cricket game we watched was the best part of the experience.

Parking was easy, the staff friendly. They need more sponsors and more advertising to draw in the crowds.

There is no doubt that Newlands is one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world. The renovations are now complete, so the scaffolding has been removed.

Always a vibe There was more than enough food and beverage suppliers So the lines weren't endless, and we could enjoy the game  Toilet facilities ... there will always be a line haha We need to sort out the parking guys. Please, please make sure this is part of your event - it's disheartening when you have to spend more time outside running around to find the one guy with a PED to pay him with your card

Beautifully maintained cricket grounds with a nice variety of food available from vendors inside the grounds but be warned, their food does not come cheap.... Altogether, a great day out for the whole family

On Sunday I  watched the cricket my favorite sport match between Grill Gun Western Province and the Lions from Gauteng. The weather was perfect, the surface in pristine condition, and I met up with friends I haven't seen in a long time. The atmosphere was excellent and the weather even better at the most picturesque cricket ground in the world. A delightful day despite Western Province losing.

If you don’t want to be blinded by the sun sit on the presidents / train tack side. Otherwise a great venue for cricket.

After Lords in London the best cricket ground in the world. The Table Mountain back drop is iconic.

A truly beautiful place to watch the great game. The majestic back drop of table mountain is a glorious view. While it is an old stadium, it has kept up with the times and has many modern features that make viewing cricket in there a truly enjoyable experience.
