Nicole Capper is a Functional Medicine Pharmacist, a business woman, and also finds time to model, speak and emcee events. She is passionate about health and wellness and preventative medicine, but her biggest passion is her family. Nicole has two children, ages 6 and 2, and supports her husband Brian Capper’s career as a professional extreme athlete in motorsport.
Nicole decided to enter Mrs South Africa after her daughter was diagnosed with a life-limiting rare disease, Cystic Fibrosis, at six weeks old.
“I had a choice. To allow a disease to steal our family’s purpose, and use it as an excuse for complacency; or to decide to achieve my dreams despite it, to show my children that nothing can hold them back from achieving their goals and dreams.”
To have any semblance of a normal life, Nicole’s daughter will need to complete hours of difficult treatments each day, to fight the progressive lung damage.
“She is my inspiration. She never complains. She fights without knowing it was ever a choice. I want to be like her; with every breath I live to inspire her like she inspires me.”
Nicole founded an organisation called Inside Out that connects the youth of South Africa with their sporting and business heroes at school events, to inspire the future “world shakers” as she calls them, to find their strengths, celebrate them, and work hard to achieve their full potential. To date Nicole has taken her message of hope to over 1700 students.
“If just one child decides to believe in him or herself and can realize the greatness they were destined for, then it is all worthwhile.”
Nicole’s husband is a legend in South African motorsport, having won 11 National titles, and building multiple businesses in the industry, including his own racing team which empowers up-and-coming riders. The couple have just celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary by renewing their vows on the beach in Mauritius. Their family motto is “We are a team”, and Nicole considers herself Brian’s biggest fan.
The Mrs South Africa journey was a natural step for Nicole. Passionate about women empowerment, and with a story to share, this platform enables her to achieve her greatest desire; to “Inspire, and be inspired.”
