I am Nomi Ntsunguzi, founder of Nissi Business Solutions, a Human Capital consultant and a Coach. My commitment and passion is to enable organisations, teams and professionals to excel in performance and function at their full potential through coaching and tailor made human capital solutions.
I have 15 years of human resources experience from various industries including mining, steel & construction, services and public sector. My last position in the corporate world was HR Director of one of the leading steel and construction companies, sitting in the board and remco meetings. In my career life I witnessed and experienced challenges relating to human resources as a field of work, the dynamics of human behaviour and its impact on organisational performance, transformation, and unhealthy conflicts between employers and employees. Mostly, human resources is regarded as “fluffy stuff” and a waste of financial resources without any tangible impact on the bottom line. I observed employees feeling like a misfit or devalued affecting their motivation and confidence levels, resulting in a negative impact on their own, team and organisational performance. I also observed misunderstandings emanating from cultural or traditional differences leading to conflict and strife.
In my personal space, I was fortunate to gain experience in my field of work from various industries. This afforded me an opportunity to broaden my knowledge and sharpen my skill. My passion for people and drive to meet the career objectives I set for myself provided me with the required resilience and determination that resulted in a successful and fulfilling career that left legacies in all the organisations I worked for. However, the change from one industry to another posed challenges of its own. The most critical was learning the dynamics of the new industry and different markets whilst adjusting to a new environment, building relationships and performing well in the role.
The reality is, organisations are there to make money. Nevertheless, change is constant in both the organisation and individuals’ lives. People change jobs and that change will always bring some level of uncertainty. If uncertainty is not addressed, organisations might lose the best talent they ever had. People are different, yet they need to embrace diversity and work together as teams to drive business strategies. In that process of maximising the performance of the organisation as teams, conflict will arise. Unless this conflict is managed well, it can lead to an unhealthy environment for the organisation.

Organisations can have the best strategies and systems, but if the people driving those strategies are not motivated, business objectives can never be met. My firm belief is that everyone has a role to play. I believe that most organisations perform below their full potential, and much can be done to raise the bar.
