Open Window Institution is a great university and campus to attend. Lecturers and students are all open minded and like minded individuals with real talent, be it intermediate or advanced, you'll always find an artistically and creatively oriented person. The campus has it's own tuckshop/cafe eating establishment that serves a range of healthy foods, snacks and beverages that can be purchased for any need. Within also lies a large Arts gallery decorated with current students art work at times and hosts photography events as well. The nearby gymnasium is quite adequate fr fitness, but rules of entry are to be properly established for any and all students and visitors traveling to. The facilities are equipped with fairly high end technology and facilities, but could improve its WiFi's range and connectivity in certain areas. Open Window also hosts a range of events catered to representing students and showcasing their works, or film festivals for all to attend. Nearby is also the Southdowns Shopping Centre for any travelers in need of more range with their food or needs. Overall great campus with excellent facilities, cafe, gym, auditorium, nearby mall, great technology. Would recommend visiting.
Please can you clearly define what international accreditation your courses offer. I asked the question four times already, and the only answer I get is "book a R1200 consultation" and we will answer everything. And I will not send my email to an auto bot responding to my complaint, maybe give me an email address to send my question to.
Honestly the worst! Go somewhere else! During my time at Open Window, we had a photography teacher who was absolutely terrible to say the least. At the end of Q2 I handed in my assignments only to be told "You shouldn't just complete them for the sake of completing them" and was expected to redo all of it in just 1 day. An entire quarter's work in 1 day? One of the items I submitted was my "Painting with light" photograph, where I chose to take a picture of traffic from a bridge over the highway. The criticism I received on my "Painting with light" submission was that :"The side of the highway was not illuminated enough and I should have lit it up a bit more with a flashlight" ... Yes, let's shine a flashlight into oncoming traffic! That sounds like brilliant feedback and a perfectly valid reason to request a re-submission! This same teacher asked the IT guys if "the screens could stay", when they came to replace/perform maintenance on the iMac systems, which on it's own should say a lot about her level of expertise and qualifications ... This kind of behavior is why Open Window earned a reputation as being "difficult", but there's no prestige in that reputation! Anything can be difficult if it's explained poorly or in this case taught/communicated poorly by an incompetent institution. In this case you're stuck with teachers who either don't know how to communicate their expectations properly OR who are making them up as they go along, devoid of any logic or reason, using only personal taste to estimate a pass or fail! I would personally not recommend this place at all and frankly have no positive feedback to share at all. It's just not worth it. Rather look at other institutions online or follow some YouTube tutorials ... You would be better off with the latter and you'll save some money.
A great institute for the hard working. I am currently an exit-level student as of writing this review and everything is going great! I've had an issue with my timetable once, but after only one or two emails, the issue was resolved quickly and effectively. All of the lecturers I've had thus far were great. They made me and many other students feel as though we could easily connect with them if need be. They make sure that you, as a student, have various ways of contacting staff members examples are emails, contact sessions, and even programs like discord are used to easily contact your lecturers. Although it has nothing to do with the institute itself, all of the students who attend there are extremely welcoming and friendly, I managed to get along with nearly everyone I came in contact with pre-covid. All in all, if I had the money and the need, I would 100% study here all over again once covid is over - you don't just get extremely good education, but an experience well worth the money paid too, P.S. I forgot to mention that classes here are limited to about 20-30 people even before covid, so each and every student gets more of a personal interaction with their lecturers, making it much easier not to fall behind. This, of course, doesn't mean you can sit back and relax, you obviously still need to study, but studying is made way easier with the way the lecturers treat their students.
It’s truly shocking what you’ll never know unless you’ve been a student at open window centurion. The administration is horrendous regarding time to reply to emails if you get a response at all and you may fail your year due to admin not helping or projects that are lost. I’m not the first to drop out because of carelessness. They portray themselves as a good institution but for a large degree what they do beneath the surface is criminal.
A particular staff member "Yolandi" is not people oriented. She's a contradiction to what the school & other staff are about. Overall nice environment & great atmosphere from lectures & students. Always feel welcome by the majority.
Probably the best Design institute South Africa has to offer. After a lot of research, I have found that no other institute offers such an array of design skills. There are many degree majors to chose from, the lecturers are highly passionate and knowledgeable and the system is structured very well. If you are passionate about art or design and want to learn, this might be the place for you.
WASTE. OF. MONEY. Tuks can teach you more for less, the lectures are outdated in the industry and expect "weird abstract" work for you to get a good grade that the average consumer would never pick. RUN.
It's a very sanitized place thats filled with color. I studied there and their job website for animators is reliable.
Best college i have ever seen. Smart and professional staff.
