Order handling service was fine- informed of delay of dispatch due to poor growing season. Then it all went wrong. I had a message to say that the peonies had been dispatched for delivery the following day. Problem was we were away on half term holiday, so no one in to accept. If there had been say a week of pre- notification of delivery, then I could have advised to hold dispatch for a week. You would have thought that being half- term at the end of lockdown their May have been some forethought by Primrose, but no. Fortunately, our neighbours took them in, opened the packing and kept them watered. On arriving at home, I immediately collected them. To say I was underwhelmed would be an understatement. Great big boxes, small plants, that didn’t look too healthy. They went straight into the ground, but after a week it was clear two of the three purchased were flagging. I contacted customer service. No response for a week. Contacted again, which received a response after a few days, requesting photos, which I duly sent. Another week or so went by, with one plant expiring before I chased again. No response received and this was over a week ago. In summary, poor quality, over - priced plants, poor communication in respect of delivery arrangements and pretty non- existent customer service. I advised if no response was forthcoming regarding a solution I would have no alternative but to post a poor review and send the plants back- still nothing, hence 1- star. Photo left dead top, centre dead, right alive but 20cm high and virtually no growth. This represents £120’s worth! Update: One peony has now died. Still no response, so I've referred to PayPal for refund. So far, no response from Primrose to PayPal either. Last post- PayPal found in my favour and I received a full refund. Around a week later I had an email from Primrose to say my comments would be passed to their head nurseryman. If Primrose had been proactive in answering my complaint, it would not have cost them a full refund.
I would avoid this company. I’m a prof head gardener. Bought potted tubers that had no root growth and consequently failed to break bud and died. Despite their policy claiming to send well rooted plants they found every excuse under the sun not to replace them despite all the evidence presented and a year of badgering - don’t even bother trying like I did, they will fob you off. Have used a different company and have received healthy happy plants.
Do not give these charlatans the time of day. We ordered on the back of a special offer, 3 for 2. We were careful to choose from the varieties in the offer, however the cart didn’t update with the reduced price. As it was the night before the offer ran out, we placed the order, confident that we could speak to them and resolve in the morning. Then we find that there is no way to make telephone contact, so have to resort to their email contact with no guarantee of an immediate response. By commenting on an FB page, we did get a response the same day. In the response we are told to our horror that we ordered varieties not in the offer, and that all the varieties in the offer were now out of stock. We do not believe either of these statements. We had been careful to follow their link from an email, and each of the chosen varieties showed stock available. Having rechecked their website, they are still showing stock. We responded to their message and asked them to either honour the offer and provide a partial refund, or refund in total. We await their response, but not very hopeful of a prompt resolution having seen all the previous negative reviews. I wish we had checked the reviews before placing an order.
No stars for this terrible company but had to put one in order to complete the review! I paid nearly£100 ror 4 peonies in March which didn’t arrive. Don’t bother trying to ring them, they never pick up!I emailed them asking for a refund which they ignored, then after another email asking for a refund they said they would cancel my order and refund me within 15 days. More than that time has now passed… no. Refund! But today an email saying they have sent out my peonies. Disgusting! I want a refund but again they are not answering the phone. I would never deal with them again!
Do not order from this company. Took our money at Chelsea Flower Show and never sent our peonies. Struggled to contact them and only received a reply by email claiming they had no such order. After informing the RHS about this company, we got two squashed peonies through the post with not so much as an apology. The RHS are aware of them.
Poor Quality Plants and Shocking Customer Service Bought very expensive peony at Hampton Court. It died of Peony Wilt 2 weeks later. Contacted customer service who took ages to reply but then fobbed me off saying that if I waited it would be fine next season. This year exactly the same happened. Sent more photos and complaint. Took 6 weeks to get a reply and be told it was all my fault and they would not issue a refund or replacement. Shocking, arrogant behaviour with no regard for customers. Avoid at all costs.
Plant arrived small with brown crispy leaves. Sent photos to Primrose Hall Peonies, they said it has ‘peony wilt’ and we should cut off the infected leaves so it doesn’t infect your other plants and wait till next year when it will come back again. We asked to send it back for a refund as we don’t want to infect our other peonies. Then they said it isn’t peony wilt and the plant is fine. It doesn’t look fine. It’s three weeks now and still no resolution. The customer service is very slow and reluctant.
Ordered from Chelsea Flower show and had no contact for weeks despite them saying they’d deliver the following week. Plants arrived today no warning by email or phone in advance and lucky I happened to be home. To say I was disappointed with the plants is an understatement. Tiny plants with no buds when I was told they would be fairly mature. One plant is growing out of the corner of the pot, seems a bit wonky. No telephone, a terrible contact form on their website, not even an email. I thought the fact they were at CFS would mean they were reliable but now I feel like I’ve just wasted my money and time.
My experience of this company has been wholly positive over several dealings spanning many months. Admittedly, it may take them a couple of days to respond to emails, but respond they always do, and are polite and have displayed integrity. Be patient and kind and you shall be rewarded with excellent plants!
I purchased a Tree Peony in May at Harrogate Flower Show and am still waiting for it - my order stated 4-5 weeks delivery. I have not had any success in contacting this company so have instigated a return of my payment via my bank. I had to click on 1-star in order to write this review - I would have left none if I had the chance
