I went there to get a Duplicate copy of my car certificate. It was around 08:00 in the morning, there was only 3 of us and the queue was moving, i was in and out in 30 mim. Please have a smart card ID or your driver's license and not the green book. They do not accept the old green ID book also if your address falls under Ekuruleni they won't assist you.
I was at the Randburg TraffIc Department this morning, 10 January 2023, to pay for a learner’s license driving test after having booked online. The service was fast efficient with smiles all round! The experience was an absolute pleasure after my previous occasions. This review was prompted by the way the all staff members interacted with me, especially the cashier on duty. It’s called giving credit where credit is due. Well done to everyone today. It was a quick interaction!
Did my motorcycle license at this department. Got a smidge lost on which building to go into but all in all a really good experience. They have a great computer system where you can actually go back to all the questions and change them if need be during the test. You get the results straight away. Went in at 12 and was done by 12:30 for the test. Waited a bit to pay because it was lunch time but everyone needs to eat. There were two other people infront of me that came out the test to pay. They did my paperwork quickly and i even had an option to tap my bank cardwhich I don’t use. Had to go back into the classroom for the lady who facilitated the test to sign the learns and when i got back into my car it was 12:55.
Booking a learners license. Ha ha. It is a problem. See my on line article. Finally got the kids in and they wrote. As the parent i was not allowed in the building. Only applicants to reduce corruption. The waiting area is a dark room with broken chairs and garbage. And they failed. Start again. Passed second time. There are some very aggressive peddlers in the parking. And i am 6'3". And the metro cops as per usual do nothing. And the staff are just rude. Old lady in tears. And there is zero you can do. I think the glass divides are bullet proof.
Even though I had an appointment, there was a 2.5 hour wait because of loadshedding. Apparently government buildings do not have generators. Once I got in, the process went smoothly.
Went to the Housing Department service centre. It was relatively empty. Staff were quick, efficient and courteous, even though the system was offline . Going after lunch is always a good idea!
As the public, you need at least one full dedicated day to get a service here. Lucky if you are not sent away to returm next day. You wait really long hours. The public parking is too small and poorly managed, it's advisable to find a secure paid parking and walk in. The yard is a jungle and poorly maintained, tall grass even along building walls. It's embarrassing, it's no longer a laughing matter. Looks like no one does house keeping even though there are paid permanent employees. What about management? Who manages this place? Seems like people are not fearful of not been found to perform duties or even have thw public complain about their service. This used to be a favored service centre not so long ago. Very long lones outoside and one apparently very overworked and annoyed security ofiicer with little information of procedures inside. Evey now and then there is an altercation with a frustrated civilian. No one tells you what extra forms you really need until you get to the desk you need to after a verly long wait, then you have to go back outside to collect and fill and return inside to rejoin the lines. Same with additional docs to bring, you may not know until the last stage. I think they must assign someone at the entrace to issue the forms that need to be filled before we come to the counters instead of making us go back OUTSIDE to collect and fill then and queue again. Also this scout can figure what you are here for and see if you have sufficient docs and funds before tou want half a day on the lines. Place a notice at the entrace that you ONLY TAKE BANK CARD PAYMENTS instead of telling us when we are about to pay after waiting for four to five hours. It's disheartening. Get backup power and retrain the staff, remind them we are the public and they are hired as public servants to serve us, not the other way around. They are not to intimidate us or make us feel stupid.
Staff behind the counter for licence disc renewal very pleasant and helpful. No generator for backup to loadshedding..... Check times before you go as the Door Security just locks up and they go offline. Not allowed to sit inside and wait it out. When you go back its a new que, Not where you left. The Door Security guard was found to be extremely rude, Next time for renewal will be online.......or some other place.
Service was excellent. Book on Natis arrived hr early. Submitted application for drivers licence renewal. Only issue was that as a 60 year old I had to get an eye test certificate. Went to SpecSavers round the corner and sorted.
I think the experience could be better. Long queues and irritated employees. There is room for improvement. SA's public entities need assistance; more stuff, better facilities and routine working shifts.
