Reynard Agencies started as Managing Agents in 1984 when the founder Les Reynard took over the management of the complex he was living in, (we are still managing the complex) today the company with 9 employees we are managing 72 Bodies Corporate.
Believing that owners of Sectional Title properties needed to be educated about Sectional Title he joined the Sectional Title Association of Port Elizabeth in 1985 and has been a committee member ever since. The Association have regular educational seminars with an end to educating owners of Sectional Title properties, the seminars are mostly attended by Body Corporate Trustees.
Les has had over 40 articles published in the local newspapers on Sectional Title and Sectional Title living. He also produced a 50 page booklet with all the “hand outs” that were given to members attending the debate forums. There is also a booklet giving advice to “new and not so new” Trustees. All free on request. Property24.com use Les to answer the Sectional Title questions they get from their website. These answers were later published in the Kulula Flight Magazine.
In 2005 the National Association of Managing Agents, to which Reynard Agencies are members, were invited by our counter parts in Australia to attend their annual conference held in a town called Gold Coast (south of Brisbane). Les was the only Managing Agent from the Cape to attend..
This was a tremendous learning experience to see first hand how Managing Agents in a first world country operate. We had the opportunity to visit many Managing Agents in different cities and this has given us an insight into how this industry in SA will operate in the future.
An opportunity arose in October 2007 for Les to attend their annual conference held in Terrigal, North of Sydney. The growth in management systems over the 2 years since his last visit was hard to believe – Australian Managing Agents must be 15 years ahead of us here in South Africa!
They have to qualify each year to obtain a license to practice as Managing Agents!
In 2006 Les was among the first batch of students who wrote the University of Cape Town Certificate in Sectional Titles Scheme Management (developed by ST Attorney Prof. Graham Paddock)
The qualification, we believe, will become the benchmark qualification for anyone entering this profession in the future.
Heather, Les’ wife has been with the business since 1985, in June 2015 we celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Heather deals with all insurance claims. We have two daughters Hilda and Lesley who both work for the company. Hilda is our General Manager and Lesley is our Admin Clerk.
Our other Body Corporate Managers are Hilda and Jacqui Hilsop.
We take pride in the Bodies Corporate we manage, and you can be assured we will manage your complex the same way we have managed the others, some of which we have managed for over 30 years!
