Everything was AMAZING. You drive a few km down the road and from nowhere you find this place, perfectly integrated within its natural environment. The welcome is warm, the rooms are perfect, the food is good. People are very nice and the safaris were the best we had while in South Africa. There’s magic there ! Go go go Rooms: Perfect, simple but luxuous Nearby activities: Game drives, swimming pool Safety: Guides and security staff overnight Food & drinks: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner available
Perfect place. Rooms, service, food, staff, everything is amazing. Vegetarian and vegan friendly. Good games big 5. A bit close from the N2 and can be a bit noisy during the night trucks on N2. But still a very good place to visit.
Beautiful lodge with exceptional staff. The attention to detail is incredible. Game drives are the bees knees too! One early morning drive and another in the evening. Coffee, tea and muffins before departure and a full breaky when you arrive back! High tea is at 13:30, and is immaculate. Dinner......WOW! 3 course meal with beautiful wines to choose from too. We saw so much at the reserve and can not wait to go back in July. Rooms: Absolutely beautiful. The highlight for me was the outside shower, when there are Zebras, Nuala, Warthog and Kudus walking within 10 meters of you it just can not be topped! Safety: It is a Big 5 Reserve, please keep that in mind at all times! The professional, expertly qualified staff will let you know all you need to know regarding the wildlife. Food & drinks: Mind. Blown. What a variety to choose from! Expertly selected red and white wines available, and the food is just world class. 3 course meal for dinner, high tea and of course tastiest breakfast ever! The kitchen is fully equipped to cater for Vegan and Vegeterians Noteworthy details: The game drives! Early morning departure is 5:30, however everyone meets at 5am for coffee, tea, hot chocolate and muffins! Upon your arrival back from the game drive, a full breakfast awaits! In the afternoon there is a second gamedrive, drinks orders will be taken and then enjoyed at a beautiful location! The staff are the best. My wife forgot her hairbrush and Lane was kind enough to not just lend, but give herwifey a brand new hairbrush. A truly memorable experience with close family. I shall never forget the trips to this beautiful, serene and calming lodge. Thank you Rhino River Lodge.
We have stayed in a few lodges in the area and this one was the least impressive. The chalets are ok. They could do with some upgrades. The kitchen staff do a great job as we did enjoy the food but the ranger and manager we dealt with lacked basic hospitality skills.
One of the best places we stayed during our holiday in South Africa. Clean and luxury rooms. Food and drinks are delicious. Game drives were the best we had. Service is just excellent. Also very romantic to do as a couple Rooms: Mooi en erg proper Food & drinks: Grote hoeveelheid aan drinken en eten. Erg lekker.
So I have been to a few other game lodges and I can confidently say that Rhino River Lodge is the absolute best. The rooms were very cosey and they had a lovely tea and coffee station with very yummy biscuits. There are a lot of animals that ram freely outside your rooms which add to the whole outdoorsy feel. Our game ranger Storm was an absolute gem! She was the sweetest and very knowledgeable when it comes to the animals, flora and tracking. We ended up landing a close encounter with 2 different prides of lions. One of which we've gotten to see multiple times. There is am insane amount of rhinos at the reserve more than what I have seen in any other We also ended up spending a lot of time with a cheetah and her 3 young cubs and watch her attempt hunting, but unfortunately she was unsuccessful but it was an amazing sight. A rare sight was getting to see a porcupine and an aardvark all in the same drive. There is a crazy amount of animals throughout the game reserve, especially on the road leading from the entrance to the lodge itself. There is so much more we saw but just don't have the time to type all out. The next big highlight was the Food! It was hands down perfection. Every single item that was made tasted extremely well. The doneness of every protein cooked by the chef was perfect I am not even exaggerating . The desserts were also very yummy. I particularly liked the mini mango cheesecake. The portion sizes are also very big. We were left so full after ever meal. Had the absolute best experience and would definitely live to come again!
This was the most incredible part of my trip to South Africa. The accommodations where top notch and so was the food. The safari was mind blowing and our guide was one of the best we go to see it all! The best part was being surrounded in the Hurd of elephants it was phenomenal. We were also on the first night got out into the bush to watch for the lions and did we get a show off the lioness’s taking down a naulla for dinner incredible. Not to mention just seeing the giraffes zebra water buffalo rhino lions wart hogs and whatever else you can imagine. The staff was incredibly and the food delicious. This is one place you need to put on your bucket list!
Our stay at Rhino River Lodge was the most incredible experience we've ever had and the highlight of our South Africa trip. Whilst we were driving in the reserve before we even reached the lodge we saw five giraffes, zebra, impala and warthogs. We couldn't believe the beauty of the reserve and how alive with wildlife it was! The stay includes 2 drives per day inc the afternoon of the day you arrive and morning of your check-out day. Our game driver, James, was great. Our drives were all wonderful and different with a huge variety of animal sightings - we saw cheetahs and cubs, lions and cubs, elephants, giraffe, zebra, rhino, hippo, zebra, hornbills, eagles, impala, jackal and more. The lodge itself is a set of beautifully designed cabins with an outside deck, large comfortable bed and tasteful interior. The shower was great pressure and hot. The restaurant space and bar were lovely with a wooden veranda. Animals also roam freely on the lodge grounds and we saw many impala, warthogs and monkeys from our cabin. We stayed on New Year's eve and the staff made it very special - offering us a night drive instead which was great fun, and making a fantastic braai with vegetarian and vegan options. They set out tables with lanterns and a camp fire and it all felt really magical. The food was fantastic. They accommodate all dietary needs and there were always plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. We're vegetarian and loved the braai options, got to try South African 'pap' for the first time, butter bean curry, fresh salad, lovely lunch time squash and feta tartlets etc. At breakfast they take your hot food order and make it fresh, including veg sausages and eggs however you like. We also had a beautiful tasting vanilla panacotta with rooibos syrup. As you can tell, the cooks here are talented! You also get fresh coffee on the morning game drives with peanut biscuits vg and gf options as well. Thanks so much Rhino River Lodge for the amazing and special stay!! We were so sad to leave!
We were here for just one evening, but everything was simply amazing. The lodge is well situated in the Manyoni Reserve and beautifully maintained. The food was fantastic, our accommodation was superb and Kyle, our ranger for the game drives, was incredible. In fact all the staff need to be commended as they all make such a huge effort for guests. Definitely worth visiting, and we will certainly be returning!
I can't believe it's taken me so long to review considering I went 3 years ago and haven't stopped talking about it since. This place was the best holiday experience I've had in my entire life and I was only there one day. The rooms were gorgeous, the food was wonderful, the rangers are so friendly, capable and interesting. When I talk about the money in my savings account, I describe it in terms of number of nights I can stay in rhino River lodge. We will be going back later this year hopefully for a more extended stay and I am beyond excited.
