Description

What was at first considered a crazy idea soon turned into a reality as the late Corky Kelly constructed Riverbend Crocodile Farm in Southbroom on the South Coast of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.
The farm was officially opened on the 24th November 1981 and having celebrated its 30th Birthday in 2011 the farm has grown and has now hosted more than 2 million visitors establishing itself as one of KwaZulu Natal’s major tourist attractions.

While the initial nile crocodiles were obtained from Zimbabwe additional nile crocodiles from Namibia, South Africa and now home bred crocodiles form the nucleus of one of the most successful crocodile breeding basks in South Africa. Riverbend Crocodile Farm owned by the Kelly family has been managed by Howard Kelly the eldest son of the late Corky Kelly since 1989.

Great opportunity to see crocodiles of different ages. Animals are looked after very well with suitable living conditions. Guide was great!! Very friendly, with a great passion for his work! The tour was interesting, funny and very exciting! Would recommend anytime, even to families with small children!
Came today with zero expectations. Our guide Liam William was absolutely amazing. Would highly recommend coming here and experiencing what this place has to offer!
What a beautiful Art & Wine Gallery. We attended the Boplaas wine tasting event and had such a fabulous evening! I loved that the family came to tell us about the wines from their farm and told us stories about each generation and how the wines came about, why they gave them the names they did and we all had a few laughs listening to the stories. The food was absolutely delicious as well. I have to compliment Niki for putting together such a beautiful evening! We all had an amazing time and we'll definitely be attending another wine tasting evening at the Riverbend Art & Wine Gallery!
Thank you for such a wonderful experience! Liaam took us on a tour and he is so knowledgeable. He answered all our questions, made jokes and got the kids involved! We had a beautiful time and will definitely be there again soon. Thank you for a lovely time.
The hosts were so excited to share their knowledge and experience with us about the snakes and crocodiles, you could easily tell they love what they are doing. The whole experience for me was very informative and amazing, the stuff was really nice starting from the receptionist , the place is clean and well taken care of
This place is well worth a stop for a variety of reasons. As you enter you can shop in the crafts store and then visit the cafe, the main attraction is the animals. The Nile crocodiles are larger than life and feel like we shouldn't feel soo safe around dozens of these prehistoric animals. The highlight of the day was the snakes for me. The variety species and being so close so I now can identify these snakes with fair accuracy pleases me. The most dangerous of dangerous next to the scariest and the harmless snakes. if you are patient enough to look for them in the tanks which aren't well lit for the comfort of the animals there. A must stop is the art studio, paintings are really worth owning, if you have the money.
Expected more but the place is what it is great to see the crocks up and close some snakes too.
The team of Riverbend were very knowledgeable and passionate about the farm and conservation. Howard and his assistant took us on a great tour around the farm while feeding the crocs and the gorgeous Palm Nut Vultures on site too. They were a treat to see. We even managed to see a few baby crocs being hatched. The kids found this part amazing too. Pity we finished too late to try the delicacies at the cafe, but maybe next time. Worth a visit.
Great food Clean facility Helpful staff Animals are well kept and maintained Check which days are allocated for feeding and snake shows The owner has a lot of passion for what he does
