Very friendly stuff, stylish furnished rooms and an exceptional hood breakfast that changes every day and always comes with some small surprises. One of the best hotels I’ve been.Rooms: 5/5
The rooms are fantastic! The employees are fantastic! The location is fantastic! The only thing that isn't fantastic is parking. I'm not used to parking in a car park and walking 10 minutes back and forth to and from the hotel. But doing so makes me exercise and allows me to experience Middleburg!Rooms: 4/5
Hotel is a decent experience if you don’t have a run in with the owner. The rooms are nice but missing some details - for example, no towel hooks. If you don’t want a room on the ground floor make sure you request in advance. Also, we found out on arrival that not all rooms have air conditioning. They offered to bring a unit to the room but then left the extremely heavy unit at the top of the stairs for us to carry down and install ourselves which I found odd. With that said, the breakfast that comes with the room is very nice and of high quality. The staff overall was very friendly and attentive air conditioning unit scenario aside. However, one of our friends had a terrible incident with the owner when their flight was delayed and they arrived late to the hotel. They had called in advance to alert the staff they would arrive late but were left outside in the cold for 40 minutes before the owner arrived to check them in. On his arrival, he yelled at them and berated them for their late arrival. They ended up having to find another hotel in town in the middle of the night. If you look at other negative reviews you can see the owner’s responses are erratic and not fitting for the hospitality business. You may want to consider staying elsewhere. If it hadn’t been for this situation I would have given the hotel a 3-4 star rating.
I stayed there for one night. Arrival and check-in went seamlessly and the lady checking me in was very nice. Room was spacious and beautiful. Breakfast was another story: I booked the earliest time slot available upon arrival and was told that I would be the only one and that I could choose my table freely the next morning. I arrived on time and chose a table by the window. A young man came up to me and asked me to sit somewhere else politely. I asked if it was possible to sit by the window instead and he went to ask a woman working behind the bar his boss?. She said: ‚If she leaves by eight then okay‘ in a very loud and unfriendly manner. She proceeded being unfriendly to other hotel guests coming downstairs and asking if it would be possible to have breakfast any earlier than originally planned. There was another man there the owner? who also seemed super grumpy. All in all - if some of the staff would be more friendly I would recommend staying here.
We’ve enjoyed our stay last in April. We felt very comfortable even with all restaurants and shops were closed. Service of the hotel is far beyond good. It was excellent! The hostesses we’re very welcoming and friendly. The room itself was amazing! We enjoyed it very much and even lost the other in the big big bed!
Lovely and individual place to stay. We had a room on two floors, sleeping was on a mezzanine level, which also had air conditioning. The mezzanine level is reached via a very steep set of stairs, so this room is not for the faint hearted or drunk. Bathroom and sitting area on the lower level with tea and coffee making facilities. Staff is extremely friendly, the breakfast was delicious and served at the table on an étagère. Beautifully set up, and a very nice sweet and savoury selection. Can definitely recommend it!
An odd experience to walk straight into the hotels restaurant rather than a reception area, however a very warm and friendly greeting and guide of the hotel and room made it a very welcoming and warm experience. The rooms are larger than average, exceptionally clean and comfortable. Breakfast is plentiful and healthy. A very nice experience overall
Very nice and well located hotel, right in the center of Middelburg and very close to restaurants and ameities. The room was very comfortable, clean, quiet and modern. Friendly staff, very good restaurant and breakfast. We had a great stay.Rooms: 5/5
Cancelled reservation due to the strange responses from the owner to reviewers who leave a 1 star review and was also acting rude over the phone when I wanted to cancel. Not worth it to book here in my opinion when there are so many other nice hotels to enjoy
Be amazed! This is most certainly not what you would expect in this place. This hotel is beautifull. Everything is spot on, from the way they have decorated the rooms, the bar to the delicious breakfast they serve you in the morning. Also ask the friendly lady who runs the place to make you a cocktail, she'll go out and get fresh herbs from the garden for it! one thing you have to be aware of though, they have a few amazing split level rooms, but if you have weak knees or a dislike for staircases, pick a different room. otherwise do take this room! also check out the cool design AC unit in this room behind / in the painting
