Efficient, effective and very professional. Made the online booking for a DAY Visit to the Kruger, paid on line, reference number and allocated time slots for entry to the reserve.Online system smooth -registered with reference number. Documents sent to my email - Complete the documents on line if possible and print, as they require printed forms, to avoid the queue and completing forms at registration table. Do take your own pen. Took us less than 10min to gain entry to the park. Buffalo within the first 5 minutes of out drive - Off to a great start.
The Kruger National Park is always an amazing experience. This was the first time that we saw lions and it was awesome. Phalaborwa gate is nice, but the bathrooms need some attention.
Friendly staff and very informative . The guards are very friendly people even though at first you'd be very reluctant to approach them but once you do approach them and in good terms, they are very friendly just don't do things you weren't supposed to do. This gate is also very clean and well maintained.
The park is huge; it's hard to see animals unless you are directed. If you are driving a small car in a rainy season, don't go offroad; you will get stuck.
Easy entrance. It costs around $25usd with current exchange rates to enter the park. Good services. Bathrooms. Gift and food shop. You can but maps, guide books and all the essentials you will need to enjoy your drive or stay in the park. We were not disappointed in the amount of wildlife we saw. One day is not enough to visit this place. Make sure you buy all the snacks and food before going inside. Arrive early especially if you are going to self drive. The place is big We went there as a day visit got there at around 10h00 left at around 17h30, during that time I'm sure we only explored 5% of the park. It is a great experience hoping to go back again soon. And the staff is very helpful no doubt on that. 5 star is not enough, it deserves 100 .
Check the map before you enter, best time to visit is the second week of September because the entrance is usually free.
Loved the game park but upon exiting the guard tried to con us into paying a R1500 fine for exiting a bit late. Fortunately i work for law enforcement, when i produced my card and asked for the fine and receipt there off, the guard suddenly changed his tune and got a bit uneasy... I wonder how many other less fortunate people let alone tourists suffered the raw deal of greed and corruption.
On our arrival we had the fear, that we would have to wait for a long time. It turned out, that it is not so busy in the north compared to the south. The part as a whole is wonderful. I hope you know that already.
Maybe it depends on staff on duty but this is not always the best welcome to Kruger. A little more warmth and attention when checking in would go a long way to enhancing a visit to Kruger through this gate. But bathrooms are clean and serviceable and it's always good to check in to Kruger at any gate at any time, even if staff are somewhat surly or tired of the repetitive nature of their jobs.
