Such a lovely space, good intentions abound. The tour is short, and punchy. We are messing up this world, and they are helping to provide a safe place for the penguins. Buy the merchandise! The Waddle socks are fantastic. I got a couple of pairs, and they are really good quality.
We enjoyed our visit and learned a lot! It was a very special experience watching the penguins being fed. Thank you for the amazing work that is being done by SANCCOB
They are doing important rescue and rehabilitation work here and they had just done a release so there werent as many penguins. You can get to see the 8 year olds being fed and to see pens with moulting adolescents and blues. There is also a section for the icu patients. I found the education room or info displays really good. I had a lovely guide on my tour. It is a nice addition to to the walk to the light house. Remember if you want to walk by the lighthouse you need a permit which you get at the hotel by the security boom as you come in.
Really respect rhe work they are doing here! Lovely clean facility with a well equped discovery center. Birds look visibly happy to be here. Very good visit indeed.
What a lovely experience! Welcoming and friendly staff, clean and neat facilities. Enjoyed every single moment! Thank you!
Great penguin conservation centre. The guided tour was very good and the museum displays were very good.
Popped in for a quick tour, Sasha was our guide and she was highly knowledgeable on the African Penguin rehabilitation programme, as they say "you are never too old to learn" and learn we did. SANCOB relies on donations from the public, if there's one little thing you can do, make this your "tithe", at least you know where your hard earned bucks are going, to the Penguins. Douglas the shadow chasing Penguin is a treat, he will bring a smile to any human, even if you're having a bad day. DOUGLAS will chase any shadow that you cast into his enclosure, don't be fooled though, he still gives a solid nip of you put your hand on to touch him, I'm mentioning this from experience. After the watching the Dance of Douglas, we popped over to the Penguin "hospital" where the volunteers were enticing the penguins to swim and develop some stamina, once the penguins have done their "rehab" they are then given the "red tag" and shipped off to Bird Island where they will either take up residence or hit the open ocean and cross the waters to either Jahleel or St Croix Islands... I stand corrected. In essence, it was a lovely outing and well worth the visit... Pop over to SANCOB and show some support. Cheers
This place is very good and i appreciate what they do to save wildlife. We got to see some penguin being fed.
A well spent couple of hours seeing how this group is taking the edge off of sea bird extinction. A short ways down the road visit the southern most point of Africa.
This institution does Sterling work rehabilitating sea birds of various types...mainly penguins...informative tour given
