25 Aug 2.30 We went to the sassa office and got an APPOINTMENT for 01 August. YOU HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. ONLY GO ON THE RELEVANT APPOINTMENT DAY. Arrived 7.30. Got to the front door by 8.40. Then there was a long wait. Got inside by 10.30. The queue inside took long, but the actual paperwork was quick. Out just after 1. Then a long wait for confirmation. All done by 2.45. If they finish the appointments for that day; they do take people who arrive without an appointment. But be prepared that it may take more than one visit. It was was not the nightmare I had been expecting. They've been doing this for ages, know the ropes and are efficient as one can expect from any gov dept. Best advice: Just go. Do what they ask, when they ask. Be nice - and it you'll be fine
It's OK but better than other government institutions lol. Slow and you must have time on your hands and definitely have go back as all applications are different requirements or short coming so do you first visit make list of info you need to provide and have them list it for so on next appointment you settle your application. Best I can provide at this stage.
I took a friend of mine to apply for her SASSA, like every Govt Dept, there is a queue, which is understandable, except this queue did not move for 3 hours leaving all the oldies sitting out in the cold weather. I don't think our Govt departments are open to any suggestions. It's just sit down, shut up and wait your turn
It was horrible was there from 4am the morning I came for an appointment cause I saw the Dr already. Lady came out took all people's IDs who hasn't seen the Dr but needs an appointment for the sassa Dr. They gave the ones who didn't see the sassa Dr a date and return to sassa office appointment. Then they called us who already saw the sassa Dr and told us we must stay or come again cause they only have dates for February and we saw the Dr October so there's no point unless we stay or come everyday and they might see if they can squeeze us in. They don't even listen to the people and have attitudes. I was there from 4am people much earlier than me also and they told us this info at 12pm I stayed till 2pm but left cause fell ill so my husband brought me home. I feel their worth ethic is wrong and they purposely work slow so they don't have to see a lot of people to send them home. They inconsiderate of peoples health, on pockets or petrol. I find it a horrible amount of people they serve as well. Disgusted some people have to pay for Dr's again to see them. Very ANGRY.
It was ok although I had to go very early but ended up being saved late and plus sitting in the cold early morning but the good thing is that thy attended to me. I would recommend that you go very early if you want to be attended to coz they is a lot of people.
Sad to see the treatment of our elders/pensioners who after having to STAND in quees from 05h00 and who have been sent to and fro and some of them trying to register to receive a pension but have to return up to 3 times spending hundreds of Rands to register for a pension while officials close their doors at 14h00 at times because of a lack of security? Sadly our government has forgotten them and forget who has to raise the next generation not only the parents but GOGOS who are the MAIN SUPPORT STRUCTURE FINANCIALLY AT TIMES as well as after school but need SERVICE DELIVERY IMPROVEMENT DESPERATELY TO IMPART THEIR LIFE EXPERIENCES ONTO THE BORN FREES SO THAT WE CAN NEVER FORGET WHERE WE COME FROM. PLEASE MR.PRESIDENT while there is so much in fighting between parties ALL OUR ELDERS SUFFER irrespective of colour or creed and need an improvement in service delivery DESPERATELY.
2nd time here. Experience this time was perfect. The 2 officials explains why things are the way they are regarding your query in much detail, looks you in the eye, talks slowly and asks you questions. No rush,no nonsense. The lines move quickly.
We were all turned away today the 5th October because the security is on strike. We were told to go back on the 14th.
Sitting from 7 till 4 just to receive a date and an informational form of what documents to bring to the next visit
Took my grandma just to get a letter stating she receives grant, for water issues etc. We arrived @ 8 and we left @ 11. Could've happened earlier but they were forgotten outside and staff had to be reminded that people outside and que growing. All of a sudden the letter took 5 min yet the wait was long
