SCAR second chance animal rescue

About

Our main focus is sterilization campaigns although we also rescue exotics and rehome domesticated animals.

Mission

We are not animal activist, we are simply people that loves animals. We do not bash breeders but we do try our best to help sterilize pets at a low cost for people that do want sterilize their pets. We do take rescue pets in and we do work along side pet shops or anyone else that does want to help out.
By bashing breeders, pet shops or anyone would make the situation worse. Stand together and make a difference. We support anyone that supports us. Fur-ever pet shop helped sterilize over 1400 pets last year (2017) and a lot of our donations comes from catteries (main coon breeders). We are here to help anyone that wants to be helped bt we do not force people or judge.

"SCAR is a registered animal rescue charity which rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes animals in need, providing a safe place for all animals without a home. Run entirely by volunteers and rescuing up to 2000 animals a year."

I went with the expectation to pet some cats and dogs. Only one cat and dog were open to pet. Rest of the animals were inside their houses. It was good to see them. But I assume contacting the authority prior to our visit would have been given us opportunity to customised tour. Also, to pet the animals. There were very limited visiting hour and instructions to move around. I found the road were quite uneven and with lots of muddy puddle. If you are planning to go after rain please drive carefully. I recommend wearing rubber boots.
Enjoyed the Christmas open day's, unfortunately the weather was horrible, but these guys do such a amazing job they're spirit is enough to lift you up, please can you support them,to carry on doing the the terrific job they're doing
Bought an exotic animal experience, and it was the best thing ever. Got to feed and cuddle meerkats, give some treats to various fox, and rough and tumble play with the most amazing trash panda in the world... His name is Bobby.
Had a great time here and left feeling like I learned a lot, full of respect for the owners and volunteers. I'll start by saying definitely persevere with following your map app as some of the signs on the drive in are slightly worn out. The rescue is past the building/scaffolding company so keep driving and follow the animals. After wet weather you're likely to run into deep puddles so be aware of that. John ran the majority of our session and we started off feeding meerkats before moving onto a couple of fox species and then some owls that had been rescued the night before. You get plenty of time to amble by the animal enclosures and more curious species will come up to greet you. If you love cats, they have 69 of them roaming around and some are incredibly attention seeking, so while not considered "exotic", there were laughs to be had when one hitched a ride in my arms as we were roaming. We only had 4 in our group so plenty of time to ask John questions and listen to his stories about how the animals ended up at the rescue. He is a great storyteller and you can immediately tell how passionate he is about the rescue. The animals are never forced to do anything they don't want to. If they don't want to socialise when you're around, that's bad luck but there is a huge focus on animals being animals here which was great. For the second portion we met John's brother Charlie who was equally passionate and knowledgeable. He took us to see Bobby the raccoon and back to the North American fox to see if she felt a little less shy. It was lovely to have a chat with the guys and the rest of the team as well as see the animals. Learning about how they mainly use scrap material for the enclosures to keep costs down and the licenses they have to apply for to take more species of unwanted animals in was eye opening. They'll also be helping with a barn owl breeding programme to help with the wild population. I honestly couldn't gush about this place more and would encourage you to ask loads of questions when you go, not just interact with the animals and leave. I'd definitely love to go back once they've expanded to support.
We did a 2 hour tour from Groupon that turned into a 3 hour tour for free! Fantastic place to see the animals, you actually get to go in with them. The people there really care for them and like the name says they have all been rescued. They put the animals first so no visit ever stresses the animals out as the carers just wouldn’t do it! We got to meet meerkats, raccoons, foxes, cats, owls and lots more! Instagram: @Lilfitmiss
Me and my wife enjoyed an exotic animal experience. John showed us around, he was very knowledgeable regarding all the animals, allowing us to see as many as possible. Being massive raccoon fans we met Bobby, who was so friendly. Feeding the meerkats was great also, such clever animals. An amazing time we had and a must for any animal lover and keep up the amazing work your doing there
Wear wellies, and warm clothes. A brilliant experience with people who really know their stuff and clearly care about the animals. Highly recommend.

I had recently purchased a young cat and unfortunately my 2yr was heavily allergic which I had been unaware previously its was a sad situation as my son loved her and we all did I'd called second chance after being recommended from somewhere else and even though they were full to burst with cats they still helped me and made room for her I'm cant express to this place how grateful I was for being so accommodating and highly recommend them for rescue or to rehome and animal they have animals of all varieties and these animals as I saw were so loved and cared for by the staff there Yes it was muddy but what do you expect for a farm this place was so beautiful the staff were so lovely and completely understood my situation as it was a very upsetting moment This place is a no kill shelter and so some amazing work 5 stars just isn't enough for here They require a small donation when they rescue your animal which I was more than happy to do and will no be donating on a regular basis
Words cannot describe how AMAZING this place is. The animals always look so happy and well looked after and John, Sue, Toni and Charlie are the most kind, compassionate and enthusiastic people I have met..as well as the numerous volunteers who make you feel so welcome nothing is too much trouble.Their passion for the welfare of all the animals is commendable as they put in 24/7 all day...everyday. When I leave i feel like I've had a huge hug!...it's my " happy" place , seeing animals rehabilitated gaining trust and feeling happy again is the best feeling ever!!!
