Our story began in 2012. Osiba Management founder, Septi Bukula, then a 19-year veteran in entrepreneurship and small business policy research, hosted one of the most important conferences in the global small business calendar, the 37th International Small Business Congress (ISBC). With this event Osiba Management found itself thrust into the tourism space, with several international delegates requesting assistance with their pre- and post-conference sightseeing arrangements. With similar requests coming during its subsequent international conferences in 2013 and 2015, Osiba Management had to respond. The Solution? Collaborate with SME Tour Operators around the country to meet this demand.
An appeal to South African Tourism (SAT) to provide leads to qualified SME Tour Operators resulted in an invitation to attend the 2017 edition of the Africa Travel Indaba, a travel showpiece it stages annually, where 90 “Hidden Gems”, high-quality tourism SMEs each individually selected by SAT, were exhibiting. Osiba Management handpicked 15 SME Tour Operators from around the country to collaborate with to offer tourism packages to its international conference delegates. The foundation for the SEEZA Destination Network had been laid.
The Network is built on a simple belief that through collaboration SMEs can offer their clients a level of service equal to that offered by their larger, more established counterparts. Each of our Network members is an established Tour Operator with many years of experience and deep knowledge of their local environment and the authentic tourism experiences it offers. Being based in local communities also means that these communities benefit directly from our members’ tour packages.
