Description

Shopstar allows anyone to create and manage their own online shop effortlessly. Developed in Cape Town, by a team of industry professionals, it's an affordable solution for SME businesses and South Africa's e-commerce requirements. Shopstar was a World Design Capital Project 2014 #290.

Mission

We would like to see every young creative and small business in Africa sell and market him/herself online. Working closely with our clients, our mission is to provide a product that allows them to successfully, cost effectively and without much technical knowledge sell their goods and services online.

Before you pay read this: As a website developer I did some research into Shopstar. It's a new website-E-commerce builder with minimal features but enough to get you through the door. I looked at their pricing structure for the lowest package R220pm you get 20max products. + They take 1.7% of all transactions Above the transaction fee's that your payment gateway takes. Meaning you pay double if your site Gross an average of 20-40k pm you will pay an extra R340-680pm. Making your total between R560-900pm while being limited to 20 Products MaxUnless you take the expensive package. I would highly recommend the Wix-E-commerce package instead not only will you pay less but you will have access to 4 free newsletter pm and various other tools with no product capyou can sell as many products as you want for as little as: R448pm At face value, Shopstar seems cheaper but it's only after you pay that you realize you will end up paying double or even triple the amount. If Wix isn't your forte try Shopify it's also a better alternative
When you make a store online, you need a payment processes to take payments. This is usually a month long process. Shopstar does it instantly with their own platform. They aren't perfect, but they have the most important aspects waxed.

I have tried to cancel my subscription for around 4 months now, however they keep taking money from my account. I’ve sent them numerous messages that they read but not reply to. Over R1000 has been taken over the last few months and no refunds have been tend to. Unprofessional and unacceptable.
For a startup business it is pretty daunting to create a website, especially if your technical skills are non-existent. Hannah from Shopstar has helped me time and time again with tech difficulty I have had on the way. They sort out any set-up issues I have created within hours of me reporting my wrong doings. Thank you Shopstar for your patience and service.
If you want to create and design a beautiful website quick and easy, then i would highly recommend Shopstar.
I have been with Shopstar for a few years now and I always get help at the push of a button. It is also a very affordable option to get a website and learn and grow your business. I had them redo my website this last 2 weeks and Bronwyn attended to me. With basically just my website I created and my logo she made magic happen. It now resonate with my customer and I have a unique look. She attended to all my requests and questions. We worked together to see how one can make it better making a few tweaks. Looking fwd to working with shopstar in the future.
I have had excellent service from Hannah. Although I am computer savvy there are many things I am not sure about and she has been a super star! She always comes back to you and shows no frustration when it takes a little longer for me to catch on. Great company and great teacher!
