SKILPADLAND is "home" for every child and staff member during the day and therefore we try our utmost to make it a happy, loving
and caring environment.
Skilpadland came into existence on the 5th of August 1998. The building in Vredekloof Heights was originally a cowshed. We started with 18 children, but very soon the "Skilpadjies" started to increase.
We decided to have a new school built in Uitzicht when the old building became dilapidated.
The owner of the current building, Ronel Faul, financed the new project and on the 2nd of April 2007, we opened our doors in Uitzicht with 120 children - currently we have 220 children and 36 staff members.
The school hours are from 06h15 in the morning until 18h15 in the evening from Monday to Friday except public holidays. We are open during school holidays except during December / January when we are closed for 3 weeks.
Skilpadland accommodates children from 3 months up to 6 years.
Every day of the week there`s a different kind of cereal/porridge on the menu. At 10h00 the children snack on a biscuit and cool drink/tea - depending on the weather.
Lunch is a cooked meal with fresh vegetables, a protein and starch. After nap-time they enjoy sandwiches or fruit with cool drink.
We work according to a set programme and have strong Christian values; therefore the day starts off with a Bible lesson. The kids work
from 09h00 to 12h00 -after that we play or watch TV until lunch time. If the weather allows it we play outside early in the mornings and
after naptime in the afternoons.

SKILPADLAND exists to provide a safe, developmentally appropriate environment for preschool and school age children. Our focus is to provide a stimulating early care and education experience which promotes each child's social/emotional, physical and cognitive development. Our goal is to support children's desire to be life-long learners.
Die skool word daagliks deur dokter Amanda Baard besoek. Ouers kan self hul kinders na die spreekkamer neem of slegs by ontvangs vra dat die kind deur die dokter gesien moet word.
Elke Dinsdag word die skool besoek deur `n haarkapster. Ouers maak `n afspraak by ontvangs en die kinders se hare word deur die loop van die oggend gesny.
Dr. Paula Loubser is die skool se tandarts. Sy kom gereeld na die skool om na die kinders se tandjies te kyk. Sy voltooi `n verslag wat dan aan die ouers gestuur word.
Die audioloog Marié Visagie kom jaarliks gehoor-siftingstoetse doen, waarop sy dan aanbevelings sal doen.
Die spraakterapeut besoek die skool ook gereeld en waar nodig kom gee sy spraaklesse gedurende skoolure.
Van Toeka tot Nou Fotografie kom neem 2-3 keer per jaar individuele foto`s van die kinders, asook klasfoto`s, gradeplegtigheid foto`s
en familie / gesins foto`s.
Jan du Toit is ons skoolsielkundige.
Ontwurming word 2 keer per jaar gedoen.
Voor die winter reël ons vir Griepinspuitings en Vitamine.
Skilpadland is toegerus met kameras in die klasse, eetkamer, ontvangs, ingang en speelgronde.
