"We are the only SPCA left in the Northern Cape Province, after all the other SPCA’s had to close down due to lack of funds. Funds are one of our main struggles on a daily basis. Since we also operate as the City Pound, we are inundated with stray, unwanted, injured and homeless animals. We are completely reliant on kind donations by the local community and businesses in order to provide a service to those four legged ones who cannot speak for themselves."

Highly disappointed with this branch of the SPCA. Multiple concerns surrounding a property with uncontrolled breeding of dogs have been reported. Dozens of dogs can be seen & heard crying throughout the day & night. Some puppies have wandered onto our premises, where we have taken it upon ourselves to find them loving homes after the tenants showed no interest in their safety & wellbeing.
Sad moment for me but outstanding and very professional service from SPCA staff. I recommend that you continue to contribute to this worthy organization

Today I called spca and the lady that answered the phone, when I greeted her before I started to conversation. She responded by asking me what's my problem and I knew I was going to have a tough time explaining my situation to someone on the other line who is already annoyed. I told her that there is a number of astray cats in my backyard and they have also given birth and I needed the help of spca. She told me that they don't have vehicles and I must place the cats in a room or in a cage. I was left with that question mark, so I have decided to poison the cats since there was no other way of getting rid of them. Spca might have helped certain people of fluent Afrikaans speaking but they certainly didn't assist me.
I went to the little shop attached to the SPCA. Books and other little items available at very reasonable costs. Supporting the SPCA also helps with running costs. Just check their opening hours and go support, maybe even adopt a pet while you're there. Friendly and kind people around. :

Disappointed, felt very disheartened by the lack of interest from the staff. We were wanting to adopt 2 dogs and were told the out of town home inspector is away for 2 weeks so we will just have to see if they can get someone else to come out. In other words the poor dogs will have to sit there for 2 weeks until they can get someone to come and inspect my property. Generally rescues are more interested in getting the dogs out into a loving home as quick as possible, you would have thought an alternative plan would have been in place for this situation!
Great people animals come first so matter what problem there is. It just a pity that they close on sunday and ipen till 12 on a saturday
People where very friendly and very helpful. Helped us all the way going thru, i would really recomend the SPCA if you wang to adopt a fur Baby
