Fantastic place to stay. Sonya, Sias and the team run everything very smoothly. Camping with Private ablutions are great. Lots of Game and amazing birds. 4x4 trials and lots of walking trials. Thanks TeamRooms: 5/5
Perfect place to escape the busy city life and stay in the lap of mother nature for a few days. We stayed in the self-catering 'Pumba' -chalet closest to the dam. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful and soothing as heaven. Somabula is such a peaceful and quiet property with lots of area for a scenic walk or longer hike with their well marked hiking trails. We arrived on Friday settling into the chalet, watching the sunset and ended the day unwinding and watching the sunset having a braai at our chalet. We spotted 4 giraffe on our Saturday morning walk, some ostrich, buck and beautiful birds on the Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon we had a visit by the property's horses on their way to have a drink and snack at the dam. The chalets are well equipped and bedding is crisp clean. On Sunday morning we had our usual hiking group join us on a lovely hike where we spotted some more giraffe, zebras, ostriches, kudus before heading back to Johannesburg rejuvenated and ready to take on the week.
Camping is basic but adequate it is a bit on the expensive side but it is close to Pretoria. The game viewing is rather domesticated but it is great fun that you can go game viewing on foot. Will vist again especially for the kids.Rooms: 5/5
Went for a hiking trip but there was a heatwave. However Sonja was very accommodating and will be going back there another day to benefit from the payment that we made. Thanks Sonja

Peaceful location just outside of JHB and Pretoria. Excellent spot to get out for the day with the family and take a walk around the reserve.Location: 5/5
What a lovely nature reserve around an hour's drive from Joburg. We stayed in the Hadeda camp site which was very private including our own bathroom and shower, had lots of shade, and had a beautiful view. Thanks to Siyas for the friendly service and to Moses for looking after the camp site. We will be back!
If I could give this place more stars I would! What a gem. We saw a few unusual animals like the bush babies jumping around in the tree right outside our house. And the dungbeetle gathering his dungnall together. And a family of bushpigs too. It's so relaxing and calm here. I enjoyed an early morning hike and got to see behives and walk across the dam wall. The chalets are very clean and all we needed was there. What a pleasurable stay. There's no signal so nobody can bug you either I would suggest taking a torch with because we enjoyed looking around by the braai. I think we saw more here in 2 days than we would have at the Kruger for the week. So many unusual animals. I regret not booking for longer because this place is breathtaking. Thank you Somabula Nature Reserve
Really nice , every campsite has it's own ablutions, fireplaces , and hot water, there is a lot of wildlife everything is well maintained and marked, so it would be difficult to get lost.
Very nice camping site. Each site has it's own Boma. The camp site is very small with limited stands. There are many hiking trails. We also did a sunset game view in our own vehicle and saw a number of animals including giraffes and wildebeest.
