The focus of my practice is on remedial therapy, support lessons, counselling and workshops for primary school learners.
Remedial Therapy
Remedial therapy is about taking a learner back to where the gaps developed in their understanding of different concepts and building them up again from that point. Remedial therapists are trained to assess the level at which learners are functioning and then create a plan which meets them at that level; and carries them forward, thereby filling the gaps and rebuilding their confidence.
Counselling:
Children, although young, are confronted with and exposed to many sophisticated obstacles on a day to day basis. They are often in need of guidance but in our rapidly evolving society where both parents possibly work and time is more precious and allusive, who do they turn to? Who guides them and who are their respective role models? Counselling sessions provide a safe forum for the child to share his or her feelings and thoughts with someone who is neutral to their current situation. Counsellors assist in guiding their clients to ask themselves their unanswered questions and work hand-in-hand with parents or guardians in assisting with specific intervention.
Why the bumble bee?
The bumble bee symbolises a pure spirit. They are respectful and productive creatures. Bees remain focused on the task at hand and are not sidetracked from their end goal. The bumble bee reminds us to slow down; smell the flowers and taste the sweet nectar of life.
These are my wishes for each and every little person who walks through my doors. I will respect and value them and help them to find their inner bumble bee.
