An amazing holiday resort for kids and teens, perfect for holiday camps they offer countless activities and games a like that are always changing and improving. With new innovations weekly the councilors are amazing, full of energy and amazing personality. They offer courses aswell for those over 17 that teach candidates to be international councilors and teach them many skills that are essential for life and at the end of the course you'll have a handful of international qualifications such as your padu diving license, snake handling, level 2 first aid, skippers, ocean warrior etc. I highly recommend sugar bay for your kids or as a gap year opportunity.
An absolutely amazing experience with my Grade 7s. The counselors were phenomenal with the students. Safety is first priority followed by fun!! I would highly recommend any school to try out Sugar Bay at least once. As a teacher I felt so assured that my students were in a good hands and I even managed to let the reigns go after sometime and actually get work done!
I had such a good time at sugar bay especially at the zinkwazi beach I would definitely recommend I also love the food there Down below is a few photos of the beach
As a teacher, my experience of Sugar Bay has been absolutely amazing! The counselors who work with the learners are very professional, lively and awesome. The kids have the time of their lives with all the activities they complete. And the food, oh my is great! Both teachers and learners come here to experience moments you'll carry with you for the rest of your lives and meet amazing people.
My son had a good week. Just stiff and painful body. But he wants to go back. He had fun and excitement. Thanks to Sugarbay and Constantia for making it a wonderful experience for him.
It was a daughter's first time going. She is shy person in general so she struggled initially to settle but after the 5th day she was brave enough to approach a group of girls to be their friend. She was not impressed with the food at all, the lunches were good but the other meals not too great. The counselors were good, I just wish there was another way to receive more info on how your child is doing but other than she had an awesome time. All her clothes came back which I was very impressed by, I can see that there were wonderful lessons on being responsible that she learnt and that's what I wanted.
It was our first trip having heard lots of friends talk about how it was great for kids. My daughter loved it and I am happy she enjoyed it. She would like to go back but I have some concerns: What worked well. Booking process it was easy and simple including the payment. The communication from the team to parents and keeping them up to date throughout the week was great . My daughter loved it and she wants to go back. After feeling initially uncomfortable with the Sugar Bay welcoming team at airport, I felt much better when I received an email message a day after she got to camp Her feedback is that she loved her cabin, the beach, the friends she made and the counselors - she wanted to extend her stay She brought back almost all her clothes and I am grateful. What could be improved - this is from a parental view. The reception and team that was meeting the kids at the airport to take them to camp at airport felt disorganized. They may have known exactly what they were doing but as a parent I felt uncomfortable. I needed some assurance that someone was keeping an eye on the kids which is not what I gleaned. We were informed that kids to be there between 12 -1 pm and I booked a flight home for 13:50 only to find out they were only leaving at 15:30. I left feeling uneasy for my daughter who had not yet made friends was alone and I was unsure who would be looking after her. Luckily a mother who was flying later offered to look after her. Today the checkout team felt a little bit more organized - but when I was checking her out the parent name was incorrect. Luckily the counselor would not let me check her out and phoned the office to check. Those details - parent names and who is picking up the child are critical and having and incorrect name next to the child for me confirmed my feelings of the haphazard approach I initially felt uncomfortable with. Communication from camp with parents is good - WhatsApp updates and social media. However I sent 3 mails to my daughter- and she received 1 email. The emails from them felt restricted- given in a template that did not really communicate how it was going. I would like to see perhaps one personal email maybe 2 days in or a video message saying how the kids are especially for first time kids attending camp. I also paid for camp bag that cost R165.00 and my daughter says she never received it.
This was our schools first visit to Sugar Bay, but it certainly won't be our last. The children had the time of their lives. They were busy in different activities all day and the activities were so varied that they catered for every type of child. Meals and accommodation were excellent. Sugar Bay's "secret weapon" is definitely their outstanding staff who are with the children 24 hours a day. They are trained in all necessary child care skills, are compassionate, energetic and love what they do. Thank you for allowing our kids to create some fantastic memories in such a caring environment.
I loved the Black Pearl week so much. The highlight for me was our Friday groove, making new friends and UShaka Marine World. The councillors are so much fun and kind. There’s so much activities on land I even forgot about the beach. Loved the beadwork/bracelets we got to make. The food is also so good. I can’t wait to be back. Need to save all my coins. I’m 11
I personally enjoyed camp so much from the counsellors to the food and activities, it was so amazing but one thing I did not like floorboards from and to the cabins I cannot count his many times I slipped and fell, but other than that I had such an amazing experience
