Where to start... From the first consultation with my 5yr old, from the friendly staff and informed consultation with dr Botes dentist he has decided to save my boy the trauma of dental repairs in the chair and ended up assisting him in Theatre at Suikerbos Rand Hospital in Heidelberg... The dr's room staff arranged all that was needed to authorise the procedure and i was well informed of the processes... Dr Kruger assited with anaesthetics, once again, another Very child-friendly approach with pre-op checkup the day before the procedure... Day of procedure, from welcoming and helpful admission staff, to very friendly and 'fun' paediatric ward staff, to caring and sympathetic theatre staff, the overall experience was flawless.... My boy, both dad and myself were all at ease, as we were kept in the loop of what to expect before and after procedure... After theatre i was offered the opportunity to join my boy in the recovery room physically in his bed, and was escorted to our ward whilst i had the opportunity to hold him. Aftercare notes were given, extra juice were provided as he hasn't consumed anything since 8:00 that morning... Made him feel very special.... Made us as parents felt like our child was really well looked after.... I cannot express my gratitude toward Dr botes enough, for also checking up on our boy after procedure, dr kruger and Suikerbosrand hospital staff for making this daunting experience as magical as possible, went better than my wildest dreams... From a very greatful mommy and daddy... He might never have to be scared of a dentist due to this very pleasant encounter
Getting someone to answer the switchboard is a major task. And when they finally do answer, waiting to be connected to the relevant extension takes forever... Also unprofessional to hear conversations between staff while waiting to be connected..
I have generally had the worst experiences in hospital in South Africa but this was the best hospital and the best experience I have had so far. I highly recommend this hospital and would happily go back there! The ICU staff are amazing and so professional and helpful, they looked after me so well with ALS. First time I have ever been looked after properly before in hospital, being so disabled. I only had one day on the weekend, when they had temp nursing staff who were brutally rude to everyone but the Dr did reprimand them for their conduct. Other than that the main staff on the general ward were great and looked after me so well. The only negative thing I can say, is that they need to get decent disabled bathrooms in the main ward. There is only one disabled bathroom downstairs in a corridor and I couldn't fit my wheelchair in the bathroom in my room! I also hope that they will start allowing more than 1 visitor per patient when conditions improve in hospital with COVID. Basically, a good experience and I recommend them.
I had the worst experience in the maternity ward, They were very impatient with me and my baby. I really couldn’t wait to get discharged. I wouldn’t recommend it even to my worst enemy

The aftercare of my newborn baby was way below average and x-rays was only done 18 hours after birth which they descoverd the baby had a tentioned pheuno thorax which led to serious other complications and emotional and financial distress.
I would like to acknowledge/appreciate Dr Tshoene, nurse Chamine and Klarissa from maternity ward. They are very nice, kind and supportive. The service was the best..... Thank you so much guys for everything , continue doing the good job From: Rethabile
Maternity ward has excellent service, the nurses are friendly and caring. My husband and I were also happy with the service we received from the gynecologist Dr Molebatsi.
The most amazing, caring and compassionate ICU staff!! The best of the best! Well done Suikerbosrand ICU!
