We went for a day visit, thinking a collection reserve would host a variety of wildlife the website also advertises this to be quite disappointed. Don't get me wrong, there are 3 rhinos, a couple of zebras and plenty of buck species. All of which hang out at the entrance and you see nothing else along the entire reserve other than a few birds. Definitely didn't see any hippos or giraffes. The only saving grace is the "rock pool" at the braai area, which is in need of maintenance.
My partner and I stayed at Leadwood Lodge at Tala. What an incredible experience to be in nature - the peace and tranquility was out of this world! We were hosted very well and all our requests were considered. I’d definitely recommend couples to visit Leadwood Lodge for some wholesome quality time with no distractions.
My wife and I enjoyed our getaway there. We were able to see some wild life and had some of them come here our chalets. A beautiful place. And the staff were so helpful and the meals were decent.
I stayed over at Tala recently in their Manor House, and my experience was masterfully executed by the staff. Lungi, my server, was fantastic, and the GM, Greg is so kind and hospitable. I can't wait to go back! Incredible scenery, and a bounty of healthy birds and animals. Don't overlook it!Rooms: 5/5
Was a brief day visit. My grandson enjoyed viewing the animals especially the Rhinos xx the late lunch stop at Leadwood was pretty mediocre... lunch cooked from a box? Still worth a visit but ideally need a 4x4 !
Went on a game drive, what a wonderful experience. Used a guide as well, he was very insightful about the animals and the names, stories, etc. Go with family and friends and make a day of it. There's pools to swim in and vraai area to relax and have picnics. Will definitely recommend it to anyone.
Apart from the animals which were breathtaking, this game place has gone down the drain unfortunately. It's so sad to see. Booked a lunch and a game drive and did neither. The restaurant had 2 extremely inexperienced, disinterested waitresses, the facilities were poor, door didn't close properly at the bathroom, had to ask for toilet paper for the ladies, extremely unprepared, managed very poorly and staff is minimal and incompetent. For a game reserve that is meant to be this popular its extremely sad and I would no longer recommend to anyone visiting kzn to bother going there anymore.
Definitely not a “Private” game reserve anymore! Open to public without booking. Restuarant very over priced for what you get! R170 for a mediocre fillet… a tiny portion & asked for medium rare… came very well done! Beef Burger was more bun than burger & chips cold … & again over priced! Service not great especially as it is a very small restaurant.
We thoroughly enjoyed the self game drive. Roads could have been better maintained. Stopped at the bathrooms at the picnic area and no hand soap, but bathrooms were clean.
We have been regulars at Tala Game Reserve for years...it's our escape from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives...we love the self-drives through the reserve, the serenity, and the freedom to observe the animals at such close proximity for as long as we like...it's fantastic! It's only the 9th of January and we've been there twice this year already! We recommend it to everyone we know ! WE ARE PROUDLY LOCAL FRIENDS OF TALA COLLECTION PRIVATE GAME RESERVE!!!
