Welcome to the Emergency Medicine Department of Tambo Memorial Hospital in Boksburg.
Tambo Memorial Hospital is a level 2 Regional hospital on the East Rand of Gauteng in the Ekurhuleni District. The Tambo Memorial Hospital Emergency Department is currently run by two Specialist Emergency Physicians with 11 permanent medical officers, 6 community service officers and 2 rotating Emergency Medicine registrars. TMH ED has officially been accredited as a training institute for Emergency Medicine as well as being affiliated to the University of Witwatersrand for training of their Graduate Entry Medical Programme (GEMP) students.
The TMH ED offers a 24 hour service to all medical, surgical and paediatric emergencies. The 16 bedded unit has a minor area, major area and a fully equipped resuscitation room which helps manage over 6000 patients a month. THM ED also offers 24 hour radiology services including plain film, ultrasound and CT. With 24 hour consultant cover and a hard working team, TMH ED strives to be one of the leading Emergency Departments in this developing field.
