The Accounting Mentor offers private sessions to Grade 8-12 students in the form of individual or focus group (2-5 students) sessions.

Why does your child need an accounting mentor?
In most schools accounting topics are taught by teachers who did not necessarily study accounting. Because of this, certain aspects are only explained in one way - the one dictated by the teacher's subject manual.
Some children struggle getting good marks in accounting but it does not mean that they do not have capacity to perform better. In the private mentor sessions, topics will be explained in more than one way.
In addition to this, principals are taught in the mentoring sessions that makes understanding of accounting topics much easier. Once someone learns and understands the underlying principals of accounting, little time needs to be spent "learning" each type of question. Your child will learn how to fall back on the principals of accounting if they are asked something in tests/exams that they have never before seen in their school's classrooms.
Languages of sessions can either be in Afrikaans/English. Sessions are given at the comfort of your home, ensuring you don't have to drive back and forth.
Brief history of my background:
I received both my bachelors and honours degrees in accounting at the University of Stellenbosch. After completing my studies, I continued to do my 3 year accounting internship as well as passing my public practice exams on the first attempt. I am a qualified CA(SA) registered with the South African Institute of Chartered accountants.
During my studies at Stellenbosch I was appointed as accounting mentor for 1st and 2nd year university students by the University of Stellenbosch. I also started mentoring school students during this time, and continued to do so since 2008.
Important: Mentoring sessions should be seen as a supplement to school classes and homework. Mentoring sessions is NOT a substitute to school.
