Great experience and awesome view of the Big Hole. There is also a restaurant with live music on site. At the entrance is also a Vintage Tram and for R10 they take you for n 15min ride. Kids loved it. You can also choose to take a tour with guide or explore on your own.
Visiting here is an ABSOLUTE MUST for every single South African and tourist. It is Beautiful. It is nostalgic. It is informative. It is entertaining. It is just pure Class! David, our host - was well informed, spoke with great enthusiasm and kept our attention - though he didn't need to. The place is remarkable. the legends, stories, history and facts are mind blowing. It is very warm in Kimberley - so come prepared. The people are super friendly challenge to you PE! - it's very clean, COVID protocols are still in place and very safe. I swear - if this delightful town had a beach - it'd be paradise. Thank you Kimberley Dave!
Definitely a must if you in the area. Tour guide David is a people's person who really enjoys his job & very knowledgeable. The old houses, the old feel, the old culture, how life was in that time. The restaurant's food & drink is amazing & worth your time & money.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
This is still an 'unbelievable' sight to see. Ensure to opt for the full package which includes the tour. The amount of information is not overwhelming and for those that would like to know more can spend time reading all the information in the museum.
Great sites to see, amazing and a little scary but definitely a must visit when in Kimberley. Friendly service from security to ticket sales. Prepare R70 per adult for the big hole sights, then R150 for the entire guided experience 1 hour inclusive of the museum.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
It's a must-see place! Definitely pretty to look at and the museum is very interesting. The old city shows the historic places greatly. The staff overall was friendly and helpful. Nice opportunities to do some souvenir shopping there aswell.
We had such a lovely time visiting this museum. We really learnt a lot about this big attraction and about the history of the town. The guided tour is a must and make sure to book the full experience. Worth every penny.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
The Big Hole in Kimberley is a must see if you have never before. To stand and look over the hole doesn't take up much of your time but I do recommend walking around the old mining village museum they have on the outside which is free of charge. What an informative and rich experience , we attended the last tour which was at 3pm , the tour included a 20 min video of the history of Kimberly and Diamonds, thereafter a informative guided tour to the big hole and the under ground mines , and finally the volt. The tour guide David was amazing... Unfortunately the tram was not working however we did enjoy a lovely stroll through the old town... You can indulge in a mini photo shoot at old prison cells, the photographer is the sweetest....
Surprisingly more to see than one would think. There's a little historical 'museum' town outside that you can see without paying an entry fee. A short tram ride is available which takes a one out along the roads and back again. A quaint ride, but not essential. Once inside, the paid tour was enjoyable and interesting, much thanks to our excellent tour guide, David. The hole itself is impressive to view, but the history and information on diamonds really fleshes out the experience!
