Description

The Village Tart in Franschhoek offers patrons a relaxed environment to sample delicious savoury and sweet delicacies. A graduate from the prestigious Silwood School of Cookery, owner and chef Lisa Adams Waite creates custom cakes and baked goods made to order. Daily offerings include an array of scrumptious treats and light lunches with local Terbadore coffee and specialty teas. We are fully licensed and our patrons can enjoy complimentary wifi. The Village Tart can be hired exclusively for private functions and special events. We look forward to welcoming you.

Sadly they did have any decaffeinated coffee. They staff was friendly and the menu interesting. For a pregnant diabetic woman not alot of options, but the pancakes look yummy. Was lovely to sit outside and enjoy the summer weather.

The service is so bad it felt like a joke. The waitress might just be someone the owners picked off the street that morning just stared at me when I asked if I could order, never once asked if my friend and I were alright or wanted to order anything more we did want more coffee fyi, threw our food down and basically ran away, gave us the wrong bill and then disappeared when we wanted to pay. There was no music and it was overpriced for what we got. We only stopped there because it still served breakfast at 12. The worst place in Franschhoek and with a name like The Village Tart, I hope it doesn't last.
The food options are great even for vegans and vegetarians which is a much relief. The coffee was decent not so great, the Lilly cups could be avoided. The food was delicious and well cooked. The outdoor seating was great.
A real tourist trap in this lovely little town. The service, despite the cafe only having three tables was terribly slow, the coffee was terrible and the food was the worst of all. The Brie and Bacon Tart.....which was actually a pie...was more half-cooked, greasy pastry than filling, and the little filling there was did not even have a hint of brie, or any cheese. I was really hungry, but rather than eat the food, I ate the side salad, paid and left to go get another meal up the street. To top it all off, despite seeing that my plate was basically full, with the 'tart', the waiter did not ask how it was, but I told him anyway, and what did he do? Nothing, didn't even register or respond. A horrific tourist trap.
Excellent wholesome food and great value for money. The staff are helpful, attentive and very good humored.

From time to time I spoil myself with a nice meal, so I decided on Village Tart. The meal that caught my eye was the "grass fed cheese burger and chips", it sounds so Oooh Aaah! Well, by the time it came it looked beautiful and Yummy! But when I had to eat it...yeah...the texture wasn't on. There was no taste what so ever in the patty and the poor cheese that was supposed to be grilled, was scorched while the chips had a fishy taste to it. The staff was nice but not very helpful... Please step it up, this is not the Village tart I know.
Took a short break here - excellent service and nice cakes!
