_______________________________
We have created this page in order to help consolidate the Union High School members here on facebook as well as to create an official presence for our school.
In the past, different education entries have created multiple listings of our school with a variety of members in each. So far facebook has listings for 'UHS', 'Union High School', 'Union High School Graaff Reinet', and various others with upper-/lower-case and punctuation variants.
When entering your education, you automatically create a smart list by that same name. Any of your friends choosing that same school listing for their education are automatically added to that group. Many of you now have 2 or more of these lists.
Solution:
By editing your education details to reflect (only) this new entry (this page) you can help Union High to be properly represented here on facebook.
Please edit/update your education info accordingly and remember to click 'Like'. The more members we have (and the more 'Likes'), the higher we will climb in the selection for future education entries.
You could also help by removing (archiving) your outdated lists and 'unlicking' any old entries of our school. Before archiving your old list(s), remember to add its members to your new smart list for 'UHS (Union High School, Graaff-Reinet)'.
By adding them, they in-turn will be asked to confirm their participation at Union and so our list will grow :)
Please pass this on and thank you!
•To provide a high standard of all-round education to every student, thus making a significant contribution to nation-building through the development of the human resources of our country;
•To be accessible to students from the wider South African community, while maintaining English as the medium of instruction;
•To inculcate the values of truth, loyalty and justice, as enshrined in our motto;
•To use the opportunities provided by communal and boarding life to develop in our students attitudes of tolerance towards others, and respect for their person and property;
•To utilise fully the resources offered by the local community and opportunities presented by the school's unique situation to develop the interests and abilities of the students as widely as possible;
•To foster an environment which will encourage students' spiritual development based upon Biblical Christianity, without prejudice to students from other religious backgrounds; and
•To offer girls and boys the opportunity to develop together in a stable home-like environment.
