Upcycled Café

We visited Upcycled Cafe, for the 2nd time, on 14 Jan, little did we know that they were voted one of the Top 5 Restaurants in Gauteng by Hungry for Halaal only weeks earlier! We arrived at 1pm and, surprisingly, they were not as busy as one would expect at that time. Our party of 4 were seated immediately, having a wide choice of where we wanted to sit. I had the Trio of Ciabatta, which is excellent for the person who cannot decide which one to have, because it's one of each! The flavour combinations are unique and unexpected, but it just works = mango and chicken, and strawberry and salmon!! The Americano was good and strong with an offer milk on the side in a cute milk pale! The kids had pizzas which were huge, looked appetising and tasted delicious! We also had a toasted steak sandwich which was tasty and of course beautifully crispy on the outside, with a side of their delicately spiced chips. The milkshake was thick and creamy, passion fruit with lemonade and cola tonic were both good. They have an extensive menu, which means I could visit this establishment many times to try various options and their portions are a decent size. The burgers which were served to other tables looked large and delicious! The restaurant has LARGE windows and an open terrace area which lets in brilliant light and gives an airy feeling. Service was very good, decor is playful in pastel tones and tables are large and well spaced. The best part is that they have a bakery on site, with the most beautiful cakes, pastries and other baked goods which you can add onto your tab and take home! I would definitely visit them again. Great food and atmosphere! We arrived for mother's day lunch without making a reservation and were told there's a 45min wait. We agreed to wait and we asked if we could wait out on the terrace as it was a mild autumn day. We only waited about 10 to 15 minutes and once we got to our table we were not disappointed. Our server Thomas was very friendly and helpful. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely be back, maybe on a quieter morning for a good breakfast and some cheesecake. Thank you to the lady at the door who even though the place was buzzing was graceful with her interaction with trying to assist us. We are grateful you could accommodate us this Mother's day.

I have been wanting to dine at Upcycled Cafe for a very long time & finally shared the experience with my beautiful Family today. We enjoyed everything about it...the food, atmosphere & service was EXCELLENT. Big variety on their menu. I highly recommend it. I will definitely be going back many times.

Lunch For 4 Something different I would say. Personalized decor with a different feel. Good service. Interesting menu with plenty of choices. All the moctails we ordered were so refreshing. No alcohol served here All our dishes were really good however was a tad bit disappointed that the curry options seem on the reviews are no longer on the menu. You could also choose from a wide selection of baked items. Fridges stocked with frozen pastry items that could be purchased

Chic setting with great decor. The food was absolutely delicious with a wide variety of items on the menu. The trio bruscheta starter is divine and I had the ostrich fillet with a watermelon salad as a main which was cooked to perfection . My wife tried the Krispy Kreme burger which was actually surprisingly good. Overall an excellent experience and the service was great as well.
