An absolute dream venue. This is a quaint cafe which also has beautiful antiques and books. You're hit with an old timey feel as you enter and can browse around as you walk through the shop to the restaurant at the back. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The people at Rosehurst Café are very pleasant and friendly. The food is okay. The entire setup is brilliant. I love the curio style shop. But what really makes the place a dream is the garden. It is so beautiful and peaceful. Its perfect for just a little getaway during the day or the perfect venue for an intimate birthday or wedding. Also a really good place for a photoshoot. While the entire place is amazing, you could just leave me next to the bookshelves all day and I'd be happy enough.
A delightful place to dine, savour the natural beauty of the place & enjoy a splendid service. I’ve dined there several times & have treated family & friends to happy meals & parties. Under the old & new management, the meal & service has been outstanding. Rosehurst is one of my favourite places in PMBurg.
Little serene gem in the chaos of Pietermaritzberg. I was truly surprised to find somewhere so silent, and peaceful, in the middle of the city. Staff and management are absolutely divine and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable for the afternoon. lovely unique place.Food: 5/5
Beautiful venue. Excellent service. And wonderful staff! Thank you to all of the staff, especially Ryan, at Rosehurst. I am beyond pleased with your hard work, enthusiasm and assistance. We truly appreciate it Food: 5/5
I had my birthday breakfast here and Ryan and the team were so accommodating and friendly. They went out of their way to make my morning special. We joined in afterwards for the 'Sip and Paint' by the 'We Paint Africa' team who were also awesome. So glad to see the garden is being maintained. Well worth a visit for your next special occasion or a chilled breakfast in a beautiful setting!
Absolute gem. Visit this restaurant and you discover a secret garden - a little leafy wonder world tucked away from the rest of the town. Beautiful flowers, mature climbers and shady trees decorate the yard behind this colonial red brick house with its splendid veranda, arches and walkways. You’ll feel as though you’ve tumbled through the back of the wardrobe into a magical world. There’s also a used bookshop, and all sorts of country and antique kitchen ware for sale. Oh, the food was simply superb!
Excellent little peaceful spot in Pietermaritzburg with lovely land landscaping. The waffle was great!
I loved Rosehurst. My first time here and I have lived in Pietermaritzburg for 32 years! It it refreshing. The garden is beautiful, the service excellent and the food very good. A gem in the middle of the city. I would recommend this place.Food: 4/5
I’m heartbroken that the old Rosehurst that I knew and loved is gone. We have been going there for years and all the lovely shops are gone. No gifts or soaps or honey. There is one little room with some antiques but most of it is all gone. The food wasn’t bad and the service was okay but those who remember the old Rosehurst remember the lovely antique china, flowers on the table, petals everywhere. All that has been replaced with plain tables with no flair. The cutlery was cheap plastic. It’s a far cry from what it used to be. Also, they were hacking down a bunch of beautiful plants in the garden which made no sense to me. Lovely moon flower trees. I don’t understand why someone would buy the place and keep the name but get rid of everything that was great about it. I’m sorry that the place was sold.
Beautiful breakfast, coffee or lunch spot. Take a walk through the little antique secondhand shops and browse the magnificent gardens.
