White River Post is a community newspaper in the Lowveld Media Group, with about 10 000 copies being distributed fortnightly in and around White River.
Topics cover the day to day activities, interests, local issues, hobbies and social gatherings of mostly residents or visitors to the town – often those stories that do not reach Lowvelder itself.
Hard news is not very “hard” compared to bigger publications; local government issues only concern traffic, licencing, water and sewerage problems and letters and a column are only published when space allows it. The Post is very much a “one man show” but with 10 000 and more enthusiastic residents who not only keep pen and camera busy all the time, but enjoy reading the paper from cover to cover.
