Very educational. Always lives up to the expectations. The current projector is 90 years old and will be retired at the end of June 2022. Thereafter the planetarium will close for modernization and renovations.
Man what a cool place. An upgrade of the chairs and 5 billion stars would be too little <- see what i did there, with the stars like space... Yeah i know, my jokes are bad, but this place isn't. Great for kids too. Oh, and has the world's oldest working star projector. Not sure if that is a good thing, but it makes you feel like it belongs in space
A poignant send off to a 62 yr old projector that is 62 yrs of service in SA. The projector itself is much older than that. My first ever visit to the planetarium which just happened to be a landmark event too. Loved how the presenter interacted with everybody including the kids. Was great.
See what the night sky is supposed to look like without any light pollution or clouds in the sky - definitely something you can do with the kids, and an experience you'll remember
A beautiful, recently renovated planetarium based at Wits University. Most shows cater to school children, however there are talks and events hosted here several times a year. You can also buy telescopes and books about astronomy here.
It's OK. The gentleman who did the show, Roy, was really good, but unfortunately the chairs are really uncomfortable. The projector is a whopping 91 years old, which is something to behold in itself, but unfortunately, the show we watched is probably almost as old Seriously though, it must have been from the 90s; I think it's about time to update it. We've been to the Planetarium in Cape Town as well, where the guy doing the show was really poor, but the overall experience, comfort of the chairs and the visuals, were a lot nicer. It's a pity, because I think this could be a nice attraction. It's high time that the Wits Planetarium gets an upgrade.
I would love to give you -5 stars. For forcing people to get vaccinated before they can enter. This is a disgrace!!!! You can not force your silly beliefs upon public. If you want to risk your health by vaccinations then do so. But you have no right forcing the public to do so. NEVER mind. I'll simply not go to the Planetarium. I will also not recommend you. Oh wait i get it!!!! You are probably using covid as an excuse to reduce work for yourself like many other companies do. What's the excuse for poor service these days?..... it's covid's fault. WOW
Beautiful experience unfortunately had to sit through the kids show because it was the only one available on my girlfriends trip up, To johannesburg. Amazing!!!!!!!
Was a very good experience! My 5 year olds were enthralled with the presentation specially aimed at ages 3-8. Well done and thank you With Planetarium. We learnt a lot! And I found the Southern Cross very easily tonight
It was soo relaxing. Didn't expect what I got as I was invited by my mom. well organized. Try ìt , you will be happy you did
