WJ Mitchell & Associates started from very humble beginnings when the owner, Warren Mitchell, from Amanzimtoti moved up to Empangeni in 1993 to start an accounting practice. In 1999 he moved to the company's current premises at Promenade Centre in Richards Bay which is on the 1st floor with a balcony overlooking the Board Walk Shopping Centre. In 2007 the office was extended to provide for a training centre which can accommodate 45 students.
In January 2009 a branch was opened in St Lucia which has since moved to Mtubatuba and is run by Nigel Nair.
