An excellent fine dining restaurant with great food in a relaxing setting. Being in a former home allowed us to relax once seated. The service was impeccable. The takes on classic dishes was surprisingly modern. The price point was high but I have no regrets.Food: 5/5
Had an excellent time grabbing dinner here! The food was absolutely amazing, and the art on the walls was fun to look at and made for great conversation. I ordered the eggplant and butternut squash soup. It was literally the best soup I have ever had in my life, absolutely amazing. The wine list was excellent as well. Really recommend for a private romantic date night!
Fine dining at its best, this iconic restaurant is located in a beautifully renovated Federal house. The main dining room has a fire place giving it a very cozy atmosphere. The staff is incredibly professional and work together like a well-trained team. The food was exceptional. This is a must go when visiting Washington DC. Do not forget to make a reservation, very hard to get in!
Last night in Georgetown and we wanted to try this Michelin star restaurant as a treat To end our thanksgiving weekend and 1789 Restaurant did not disappoint, it blew our tastes buds away! The butter squash soup we started out with was so amazing that we knew the rest of the dishes would get better and better. Be sure to take a video of how they present the soup…it happened so fast, great presentation. I had the brioche halibut and My tastebuds were just in heaven. Our bellies were full but we still wanted to enjoy the evening w deserts and it did not disappoint as well! Service was excellent And the food was delivered quick. This is my new favorite restaurant in Georgetown by far and looking forward to coming back again!
We had such a great experience visiting 1789. The food was delicious, the waiters were pleasant and the manager was so knowledgeable. He knew all the history and even about the Exorcist house and steps directly across the street. We enjoyed short ribs and sirloin, my brother in law had the halibut, we also tried the lobster and the octopus starters. They were so good. They even called our cab for us. We will def. return on our next visit to Georgetown. 1789 is located at 126 36 St.NW 20007
I'm just one of the peasants, so I will describe my experience as such. I couldn't understand any of the drinks, but "That's Life" was pretty good. Had some good flavors. Rosé was sparkly and dry and very wine-y. Good indeed. Wagyu melts in your mouth and steak was cooked perfectly. Everything is garnished in veggies I have never even heard of. The servers were super nice. We went on Christmas Eve and they gave us a fancy dessert on the house. My cultured French friend thoroughly enjoyed her experience and her lil snails and croissonts. Thank you for this food experience.
We just had a terrific meal at 1789 for my fiancées’ birthday. Stephen gave us excellent suggestions and we truly enjoyed ourselves. He is a true expert. We will be back. Thank you so much!
Amazing staff! -hostess great you right away and are very friendly -our waitress was attentive, helpful and always checking on us -manger walking around making sure everything okay -clearing plates right away Food was amazing!
Great service, building has great history as well. Our table tried all the cocktails and everyone liked them. I really enjoyed the scallop dish, it was a highlight for me!
Absolutely superb. Delicious food, excellent service, warm and cozy dining room. We were a bit under dressed, definitely a sports coat kind of restaurant. If you are looking for a nice meal this is a place I would go back too. Great job 1789. Edit: We went back.
