516 ARTS
Contemporary Art for Everyone

516 ARTS is an independent, nonprofit, contemporary art museum in the center of Downtown Albuquerque that celebrates thought-provoking art in the here and now. We feature local, national, and international artists and inspire curiosity, risk-taking and creative experimentation. 516 ARTS offers fresh perspectives on relevant issues and cultivates engagement between diverse artists and communities.

Founded in 2006, 516 ARTS produces curated exhibitions focused on socially relevant topics, accompanied by public programs including collaborations with museums and organizations around the region and beyond, public art projects, talks, panel discussions, the 516 WORDS literary arts series, workshops, performances and more. Education programs include exhibitions tours for schools and community groups with curriculum support packets for teachers, youth activities and more. Many of the exhibitions feature artwork for sale, with a portion of sales benefiting our public programs,

In 2016, 516ARTS established Fulcrum Fund as a partner in the Regional Regranting Program of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, distributing grants directly to artists for artist-organized activities in our region.

Great place, always has something cool to see or experience. Parking is hit and miss and downtown is downtown. There is almost always an unhinged Christian preaching about the fires of hell on the corner. I would suggest visiting in the daylight and I’m not joking.
Awesome space, 2 floors, you may have to wait a few minutes to enter after hitting the doorbell but it’s worth it! The show up now is so good!
Not really an "art" guy, just went here to do something different but I was pleasantly surprised! Friendly staff and nice atmosphere! Recommending this place to my friends
Do not miss a chance to see every exhibition and program produced by this stellar organization. The space lends itself to outstanding shows with multiple materials, including video and sound installations. The program is savvy and contemporary and yet it is thoughtful and socially conscious. This is a special place in Albuquerque.
Interesting art gallery with exhibits from local artists. We liked it.
I really enjoyed the exhibit. And Benjamin was very kind and informative. Definitely worth stopping in if you have time.
Great space and location. Fun openings for new exhibitions.
516 is a fantastic resource and anchor for contemporary art, both in Downtown Albuquerque and in the region. Over the last decade the team there has consistently worked with local, national, and international artists to create installations that are thought provoking, relevant, and consistently executed across a variety of mediums, incl. visual arts, mixed media, sculpture, street art & murals, and more. In addition to hosting exhibitions, in the last few years they've deeply engaged with other arts organizations and anchors, as well as piloting and growing the Andy Warhol Foundation For The Visual Arts' Fulcrum Fund, which supports independent, artist-led projects and spaces, and is an important add to the arts ecosystem in New Mexico. Definitely recommend a visit!
This is a total 'diamond in the rough' in downtown ABQ. The space and artwork are second-to-none and if you're looking for your fix of great contemporary art, you need to go no further. There are a few other nice galleries and coffeeshops nearby so you can spend a while wondering through the area. This is a nice way to experience the 'artsy' side of Downtown!
This place is a remarkable Albuquerque catch. Rotating exhibits on all manner of topics usually group shows that work to prod thought. Sometimes more clever than inspired, but always interesting. Go.
