Excellent! The B&B is easy to get to from the airport by road and around a 7 minute walk to the nearest Subway station -Church Avenue. Mr Phil and Ms Faye I call them Mr & Ms out of respect are such a lovely welcoming couple. Mr Phil is full of wisdom and is a great conversationalist which was really lovely for me because I was alone on this trip so it was nice to have someone to talk to. My room and bathroom were impeccably clean and very, very spacious. I've stayed in many hotels in NYC and none of the rooms/bathrooms were as large as these. I had a fully stocked bathroom with a plethora of full-sized toiletries including make up removal wipes which were a nice touch. I also had lovely robes and towels provided. The free breakfast was delicious every day and made fresh for me when I came down to eat each morning. I ate alone most days and the grand dining table was laid out so beautifully for me every day, I felt like a Queen! On my last day I was joined by a couple of other people for breakfast and we were treated to a traditional Trinidadian breakfast and Mr Phil playing the steel pan while we ate. I had an amazing stay and I felt very comfortable especially as a solo Black woman. I highly recommend A & Faye Bed and Breakfast.
Last spring we stayed here during 9 days, and had the most excellent experience. The place is conveniently close to public transportation, Prospect Park, stores, Church, and excellent restaurants. The house is located on a very nice street, full of very well kept houses. The room was beautiful Hibiscus Room, very well ventilated and lit, fully stocked with all the necessary items, and very clean. The breakfast was delicious, fully stocked, and served with a smile. Faye and Phil were the best hosts we could have hoped for. This B&B exceeded our expectations.
Wonderful little B&B! Faye and Phil are such kind people, the rooms are simple but very clean, as are the bathrooms. Very conveniently located to the subway, street parking is free and safe, neighborhood is very nice and walkable. Great pizza a few minutes away. Phil and Faye also cook a great breakfast! Will definitely be back!Rooms: 5/5
Neat, clean, well-appointed room. Large, clean bathroom which seems recently updated. Beautiful breakfast every morning; usually fresh fruit, eggs, protein [bacon/sausage], toast, and self-serve coffee or tea. Mini-fridge in the room and microwave & toaster on my floor was great for keeping and rewarming takeout. So thankful for the filtered water in the room -- graciously refilled upon request. Hosts made me feel welcome and at ease. Being able to come and go through the side entrance with an individal security code is an added bonus because I didn't need to worry about being back by a certain time. Good neighborhood. Easy walking distance to several great eateries, and the subway for access into the city. Will dtay again! Rooms: Window AC in the room. Local television stations. Mini-fridge with complimentary water. Shared microwave and toaster in the hall. Good wi-fi, no interruption. Safety: Guests have individual codes to access the side entrance to come and go. Good neighborhood, directly across the avenue from Prospect Park parade grounds -- family area. Walkability: ~5 minute walk from the Church Avenue subway station. 15-20 mins walk to several great restaurants. Food & drinks: Great breakfast served by Phil and Faye. Fresh fruit, eggs, sausage or bacon, toast [sometimes pancakes], and self-serve hot tea or coffee. Fresh fruit available in the dining room all day. Filtered water provided in the room and refilled upon request.
This was our first B&B experience so we had no idea what we were walking into. We just wanted to stay close to Prospect Park and our daughter. We arrived Thursday evening and were shown to our room on the third floor by the lady of the house. She broke down how everything works and told us to let her know of we wanted breakfast in the morning. After going out that evening we returned to a toasty room and quiet night’s sleep. The next morning we came down for breakfast where Mr Phil had the table set, coffee ready, fresh fruit on table and calming jazz playing. We enjoyed some great conversation with the host as well as the other guests. The next two days went the same way with us enjoying all the time we spent with our hosts. We’ll definitely be back and I encourage you all to stay here.
My husband and I had a great experience staying here for 8 days recently. The room was lovely and spotless, all the amenities of a hotel, plus some. And another bonus was how quiet the room was, very little sound from outdoors comes in. Also, the owners were very helpful and friendly. We also enjoyed the breakfasts, very accommodating, too. We plan to stay here again the next time we visit Brooklyn! Highly recommend it.
I recently stayed at Phil and Faye’s B&B during a quick visit for a show in the city with friends. Their home is welcoming and cozy and they were amazing and attentive hosts! My room was quaintly decorated with lots of attention to detail and included everything needed to accommodate a comfortable stay, as was the shared bathroom – which was clean and equipped with all necessities! The neighborhood is very accessible to buses and trains in either direction and I felt very safe, even returning late at night. The breakfast provided was lovely and I enjoyed chatting with the hosts and other guests there during my stay. This place is a gem – a home away from home - and worth so much more, based on the service and accommodations provided. I plan to be back with my kids early in the Summer for sure!
I hesitate to share our excellent experience, as I want to keep this gem always available when we visit our son in New York. Our room was comfortable , clean and spacious with plenty of outside light. From our little porch we enjoyed watching the soccer games at Prospect Park. Breakfast was more than adequate delivered right to our door! Resources for transportation and food were within easy reach. Due to Covid, contact with our hosts was minimal, but we look forward to a time we can get better acquainted.
I would like to give this place more than 5 stars if that is possible. Both, Phil and Faye, have made our experience in Brooklyn the best possible. Really nice people that work really hard to give you the best time at their home. It was my first time at a B&B and I have to say it was great. Great rooms, great breakfast and, more important, great people. Highly recommended.
Our annual Easter excursion took us to this quaint family dwelling. For a small price, Phil has opened his home to you, see? My two older boys and I always spend a few days in NYC to explore as many corners as we can, and A & Faye is perfectly located in a wonderful Brooklyn neighborhood. It's still cosmopolitan, yet un-gentrified, vibrant, yet not dangerous. As for the digs, well, we stayed in the upstairs 2-bedroom suite, a large, clean, well-maintained, open space for the three of us to find some rest and listen to the city sing to us. The house itself is quiet, but, being situated on Caton Ave., the traffic noise permeates, but it's Prospect Park, so it's not a roar, just the city. Pictures are from the front gate looking up and down the street.
