I got the catfish and shrimp basket. Have to say the shrimp bears any I've ever had. The flavors are done right. I enjoyed the sauce too as it was spicy but not so spicy to take the flavor away. Fried okra for the win. The peach beignets were a solid after meal dessert. Can't beat the kind service we received from the woman at the counter. Would recommend to anyone
Hot, fresh, delicious! Portions were great. I had catfish & shrimp basket. And 504 Tacos. Eaten over a few days. That Who dat punch delicious! Who dat sauce on point! Food: 5/5
I'd been meaning to try out Taste of New Orleans every since I saw the food truck outside the ice cream shop, but I could never make it before they closed. So as I drove thru Benson one hot summer evening, I noticed it was early evening and they had to be open...I was right and happy I chose to try it! I had the shrimp and fish dinner the slap yo mama juice and the beignets and lemme tell you... EVERYTHING was A little pricey, but to support my brothers and sisters out here doing they Thang, I'm here for it. I think there were daily specials if I'm not mistaken. Overall fresh hot tasty and nice portions. Thank you for giving us a Taste of New Orleans!
Unique eatery located in the Benson neighborhood in North Omaha. Unique in terms of the style of food you get for the location of this midwestern area. You will find things like Mexican and Italian everywhere you go, but to see Cajun, and especially seeking the New Orleans style and feel is not very common to find. We decided to try the Cajun shrimp tacos and the Andouille smothered fries. We split both, so we each had more than one things to try. Both of us found both items to be quite good. Things we’d certainly not hesitate to try again. However, there is a broad menu, so we would not mind exploring a bit as well. Staff was friendly and helpful. They were a little underprepared when we showed up close to open time, so there was a bit of a wait, but they were very forthcoming about it before we ordered, so we knew what to expect. We were in no hurry, so we ordered and found a table, and the wait was under what they predicted. Place had an older unique feel in a good way, and best we could tell, is it seemed like a former auto service shop converted into this. But again, in a good vibe type of way. They have ice cream for desert and a lot of unique flavors along with a story of how it came about. I have photos of that stuff as well, if you want to read it. Over all, we liked this place. I’ve been to NOLA 4 of the past 5 years, and enjoy the local food. So it was nice to find something like this so far North. We are not from Omaha, but we are a lot closer to Omaha than NOLA, so we plan to come here again.
Ordered the Cajun shrimp fries drizzled in the Who Dat sauce. While I was eating it, a large group of elementary school girls walked passed and couldn’t help but do a double-take to look at this loaded beauty. I was about to offer them some but decided to save it all for myself.
Honey chile... Where to start. The catfish and shrimp platter was delicious. The fish didn't have fishy taste at all. The portions were huge. I also had the yams and fried mushrooms. For desert I had the peach beignets. Cant wait until Thursday for Shrimp and Grits!!

WoW, glad we had a recommendation to try out "A Taste of New Orleans" in the Benson neighborhood. The blackened catfish with the daily grits concoction was fantastic sausage, peppers, yumminess, took home more than half of it for a later meal. The seafood combination plate was also excellent, receiving rave reviews for the fried catfish from someone that cooks an excellent catfish!! Sure parking is a challenge, but it's expected in this area. Look for the "A Taste of New Orleans" food truck!!
Very friendly staff, I ordered the meal deal, blackened catfish, fries,& fried okra and the peach cobbler Beignets which are to die for! Only complaint is the catfish was waaaay too salty! Will definitely go back if not only for the Beignets! I'm still flushing out the salt...
Everything was delicious! Sometimes fried food can be overly greasy or overdone but the fried softshell crab, fries, and okra were on point. We had the soft shell crab po boy and the batter on the crab was absolutely the perfect texture without masking the crab and the seasoning of the batter was the best I've ever had. The portions were large and the service was great. Make sure you save room for desert! The peach beignets were insanely good.
