A Woman's Time

About

We are a woman's natural health care clinic in NW Portland. We see women of all ages, teens included. We have been open since 1995 and provide primary care, acute care, cancer care, and preventative care.

Story

Clinic Philosophy

We utilize the whole spectrum of health care – alternative and conventional medicine – with the treatment options being individualized to each patient and each clinical situation. This model of health care is called Integrative Medicine – maximizing the strengths of alternative therapies and conventional medicine while minimizing the weaknesses of each.

Providing options in the management of menopause issues, women’s health, and the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases are our main missions.

We treat each woman individually and as unique by assessing her specific symptoms and identifying her risk factors. We specialize in the treatment of women and see women of all ages with gynecological, hormonal, primary care or general health problems.

Part of the success of an integrative model of health care is a strong network of close working relationships with practitioners of all disciplines. The physicians at A Woman’s Time have a special and unique reputation in the medical community as being practitioners who respect all disciplines and the expertise that each has to offer. Our relationships with internists, surgeons, cardiologists, gynecologists, oncologists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, osteopaths, other naturopathic physicians and medical specialists, and allied practitioners is an invaluable resource to our patients.

We are able to work closely with your other practitioners on your behalf, and enjoy a robust referral network to and from all practitioners.

I am extremely grateful for the help I have received from this practice. Dr Hudson identified that I had endometrial cancer after Providence Urgent Care was puzzled. I appreciate her life saving help and she referred me to a terrific surgical team. My primary might have caught the issue but there was a long wait for her PA. The staff members I have dealt with have been both professional and warm.
had not found someone who would listen to what I was experiencing "just getting old" the usual brush off, that menopause was just what it was. Oh and that OF COURSE being overweight explained all.. Dr Hudson listened, explained things, and offered options. I was skeptical regarding herbal remedies, but have been beyond pleasantly surprised, after years of increasingly painful periods and developing dreadful hot flashes the symptoms are all but gone. And yes, encouraged me to exercise more, lose weight etc. I would have her as my primary if I could.
I haven't been in in awhile, but I appreciate the importance of leaving a review after reading a couple of the negative reviews of A Woman's Time. I have never had a negative experience with this clinic. Staff and practitioners have consistently been politely professional-even professionally friendly. I always expect courteous treatment at A Woman's Time and I have never been disappointed.
I started seeing Dr.Readhead bc she’s one of the only practitioners offering iron transfusion outside of the scope of allopathic med/Hematology dept., and gosh, I cannot say enough wonderful things about her! Allopathic med, like any modality, holds a vital place in health care, but we all know that it’s generally slow to adapt to cutting-edge research and isn’t great at identifying the underlying causes of symptoms. Thankfully, Dr.Readhead has helped me get to the root of some of my chronic symptoms, symptoms that have plagued me for years and ones other practitioners have dismissed as ‘anxiety’. I’m grateful for her up-to-date knowledge, communication style, and advocacy. She’s incredibly well-read/researched, very easy to talk to, and I never ever feel like she’s *not* taking my concerns into account. Highly recommend!
The clinic staff are warm, caring, and attentive, while at the same time, highly skilled and professional. Dr. Davidson is remarkable. Dr. Davidson demonstrated genuine care for me as a person, listening to what I want and respecting my preferences for what to do with my body, and taking the time to help me understand treatment option. I have made her my primary physician and recommend her to all my friends. I recommend A Woman's Time for "change of life" issues, in addition to general female health.
Remarkably difficult and unkind office staff, generally unprofessional behavior from everyone - such as having me come in to review my labs but then not having the labs when I arrive bc no one from the office had called the lab to get the results sent back. They also refused my suggestion to have all my old medical records from a two previous doctors shared with them. The staff said that was too much information and the doctor didn't want that much information. The next time I came in the doctor says that she has an incomplete picture because she doesn't have all my records - which I had predicted but they refused to hear. The disorganization and terrible communication made it feel like I always had half an appointment and was wasting my time.
I've seen three different naturopathic doctors at this clinic and all have been professional, kind, and helpful. I particularly recommend Dr. Megan McCormick. The front desk staff has also been great, especially Noel. The logo and decor of this clinic are straight out of the 90's but the care is cutting-edge. They were sensitive to my out-of-pocket costs and helped me choose which lab tests and meds were worth it, and which options were cost-effective.
I've been a customer here for probably about ten years and have been contacting the office staff for over 48 hours now to fill a prescription and Jeri and the rest of them have been leading me on and giving me the runaround until 'my doctor' is in town... but they have anyone in the office who can fill a prescription and look at my longtime file. They had no intention of helping me 'until my doctor got back into the office 3-4 days later', made several promises to get back to me and have a doctor get back to me, to no avail. They messed up filling the prescription properly last time and now the mess is on me to try fix it and try endlessly to get ahold of a doctor or supervisor. They don't seem to care I'm going out of town and can't wait 3-4 days for someone to respond. Super horrible they treat longtime customers this way, super disappointing. Not sure if I'll continue supporting this clinic.
This is hands down the WORST doctors office I have ever been to. I would also strongly recommend finding another provider. This is the most unprofessional, apathetic office I have ever been to in my life. Not only did they ask me to wait A WEEK for a PHONE consult with the doctor to receive test results they called and told me they had the results and that the doctor could go over them the following Wednesday, on a Thursday!, when I asked for my test results because I didn’t want to wait; they handed them to me and left me alone to read the results in the waiting area. Literally everyone walked away and left me alone... then the doctor didn’t even BOTHER calling as scheduled!! I should charge them a fee, like they would if a patient didn’t show up! So seriously, do yourself a favor, find somewhere else to go! No one needs this when we are already having a hard time....
Front desk is great, super helpful and very nice. The doctor is amazing, she is extremely knowledgeable and kind. She works with you to find the best treatment for you not just a generic treatment nor does she try to push any kind of meds or treatment that you don’t need. Highly recommend
