Decided to try Abate Restaurant after trying the other 'must have New Haven pizza joints'. Pizza was good, however it is a thicker crust than the others Sally's, Frank Pepe's, Modern and honestly was more of a regular pizza joint if you can call it that. Staff very friendly, would I return, maybe. However I do prefer Modern and Franks pizza more personally..
Good quality pizza that doesn’t get the attention it deserves due to some other spots nearby. I know there are a lot of great spots in the area but this should be up there - especially since there isn’t a long wait. Good quality pizza that uses fresh ingredients! Looking forward to coming back sometime soon.
Ordered take out, and despite eating the pizza roughly 25 minutes later, it tasted great. The spinach pizza was jam packed, and the cheese pizza was flavorful. I appreciated that the pizza was not oily.
Last night my family went to abates to celebrate my cousins parents 60th anniversary. They couldn't have been sweeter.the food was amazing but what was even better was the man who waited on us he was so good to us and even gave my cousins parents a free cheesecake. At one point one of the owners asked us if we wanted some cake because they had extra from a party they were having.we had the best night ever due to this lovely man .I hope he reads this and knows how much we appreciated him.
Disgusting! This is how our pizza arrived uncut and cheese thrown everywhere. My mother had to cut the pizza with a knife. Not to mention the pizza is nasty like it was an old pizza and they added new cheese on top. Also the driver was rude and didn’t have change and the workers on the phone were rude as well. She refused to give us a refund and couldn’t send a driver out to get the pizza because “they were busy”. Don’t eat from there!
My friend and I visited CT yesterday for a bday party and we pick up pepperoni pie so we could snack before we went to the event. That pizza was one of the best pizzas I had in a long time. It was thin crust and the right amount of everything. I will definitely be going back when I visit again!!Food: 5/5
Good and tasty New Haven’s apizza. The place is a little worn out. Our waiter a young man was very friendly and efficient, but the rest of the staff seemed as worn as the place
Where to start? The meatballs were very flavourful, The marinara and Garlic bread was sublime, the pizza was giant, and the pepperoni was crazy good. The prosciutto salad was made with fresh mozzarella. The staff were friendly and attentive even though we got there close to closing, we had no wait time, and the food came relatively quick They serve Peroni Beer and Foxon Park soda. Now on to the desserts. the tiramisu Oh, the tiramisu. I've only had it once before at a different place, and it was ok wasn't sure I was going to try it Oh my, I'm so glad I did. I fear it will be far too long before my taste buds are graced with such a profoundly smooth, well-balanced creamy tiramisu. Now for the cannolis, I have not had them in a while and forgot how good they could be. These bite-sized morsels of heaven are light and satisfying to no end. The addition of the sprinkles gave it a relaxed silly vibe that was perfect for the festive atmosphere. That leaves us with the carrot cake. Wow, the cake itself was light and fluffy, allowing the carrot flavor to take charge and not be overpowered by the frosting, which can be too sweet. Not in this case. The whipped topping helps bring it all together in a word Balanced. They also have an extensive menu. TBH, we didn't get off the appetizer page. Thank you to everyone that served us that night. You folks are great
It's my first time in the little Italian town, and definitely l will come back... l went in the night and everyplace was a full with line outside...Food: 4/5
I will say that having my first New Haven pizza, I am impressed for this out of New York City where I'm from spot. The ingredients tastes very fresh and cheese nice and gooey + they don't hold back on the toppings as you can see. I will say that the service was not the best as the guy server looked like he barely wanted to deal with us,but only let that slide because of the pizza. I went wild with the pineapple but that could have cooked more thoroughly. Also, the place could use a bit of sprucing up, but the locals don't seem to mind, so when in Rome.
