French-American bistro Camaje (pronounced kah-mahj) is a cozy haven in the West Village for regulars and new friends alike. Intimate but casual, the restaurant offers a local, seasonal menu and a brand-new happy hour. It's also the home of NYC's famous blindfolded Dinners in the Dark.
Relax at a table, sip a cocktail or a well-chosen wine, and take in the views of the historic townhouses of the Village (including Bob Dylan's former building across the street).
Camaje was established in 1997 by chef-owner Abigail Hitchcock. Abby's favorite dishes, inspired by her regular trips to the Union Square greenmarket, include appetizers such as smokey hummus, entrées such as tender hanger steak and lamb tagine, and desserts such as the popular Banoffee Pie.
Camaje also offers hands-on cooking classes (for one or for a whole group) as well as private and corporate events for up to 25 people. Tickets for Dinners in the Dark, also known as Dark Dining, must be purchased in advance through EventBrite; see our website for dates and details.
