My son has been receiving services (Speech, OT, Academics etc)through Abilities for 9 years. When my son walked through the doors at age 5, he was nonverbal, not potty-trained and struggling with trauma inflicted by a local public school.
The Therapist and Owners quickly developed a plan of action, goals and unlimited support to me and my husband to implement the same at home. The knowledge, training and years of experience the Abilities Family has is phenomenal. They work as a team with each discipline complementing the other.
My son was potty-trained and was beginning to use basic picture communication within weeks. His progress has been steady every since. He now talks non-stop and communicates well with others. Feeding Therapy has helped tremendously with adding new foods to his diet and his willingness to try new foods. My son also receives Academic Instruction which has made a huge impact on his overall progress.
The most important thing about the Abilities family is that they love what they do and genuinely care about their kids. I know that my child will be safe and loved when I leave him.

The entire staff is professional, courteous, and well experience!! My younger cousin began therapy a few years back and has had nothing but improvement since he walked through the doors of abilities. The milestones that abilities has helped him reached are abundant and he's never been happier. The therapist work extremely well with him, developing plans of action for issues he may struggle with in a timely and effective manner. The environment if very friendly and family oriented. They are more than just a business or therapy, they are a family, and I for one am more than happy to be a part of the abilities family!

We had a great experience with the feeding therapist at Abilities. My second son was unable to eat solid food (refused purées) and would gag and/or throw up any thing he tried. We saw their feeding therapist from 9m old to 14m. Progress was steady and I also received lots of tips and strategies to use outside of therapy. I am happy to say he now eats like any other child his age and has no trouble with trying new foods. I am very satisfied with the short-term help my son received and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

My 9 year old son that has Autism and Apraxia of Speech has been coming to Abilities for almost 6 years. Prior to having him I worked with individuals that had mental and physical disabilities( I prefer the word challenges) for 20+ years and they all received services from Abilities. I know that God prepared me for my son and his challenges and also gave me the knowledge of first hand knowing what Abilities could do for him. My son has received Speech, OT, Feeding and ABA(while available) from Abilities. My son was only speaking a few individual words when we started, currently he is reading, making request with short sentences and can proudly give you his demographics (birth date, address, phone# etc.) OT has been great, we are currently working on shoe tying. When we started he wasn't even able to grip a pencil, now he can write and color within boundaries, fasten his own seatbelt and dress himself. Feeding has been remarkable! When we started my son could not even sit in certain restaurants due to sensory overload of certain scents, his diet consisted of items that you could count on one hand. He can now sit in some of those same restaurants with no gagging, granted he's not eating the buffet, but his diet has increased to where you need both hands and another to count the foods he will eat and try. We have been treated with respect from day one. My son has a smile every time we enter and that's a GREAT feeling for mom. Abilities thanks for all you do for my family!!!!

If you are having feeding issues, please do yourselves a favor and stay away. My wife and I have enough grounds to sue these people, but we are trying to be forgiving about it. Our child's progress with eating was neglected; false reports were written; oh yeah...I could give a lot more dirt on all this, but I am happy that we have found a REAL speech pathologist and not "rented" one of these people. If your child is autistic, maybe this is a good place for you, but if you have a normal child who is just dealing with some issues, these people will take your money quickly and will be slow with the results. And you will get these little, vague reports. The woman who handled our son was HORRIBLE at communication with us. IN the end, she had to cover her a** and wrote this very obvious, phony yearly report. Our pediatrician had NO IDEA about her misgivings -- let me say that these happened when we tried to pull my child out of therapy...yeah all of a sudden we get doomsday stuff to keep our child IN, as the therapist knew she was busted. DO NOT go to these people and question your pediatrician's expertise if she/he tries to send you here. We wasted a year and about 5 grand on NOTHING.
* edit to respond to "owner"...you are full of nonsense...you are just trying to protect your business, which I actually understand as a fellow business owner. You r slate is not clean with a lot of folks...on my child's life, I know this. You are good for some kids, but some of your therapists need to re-evaluate their standards and what actual work means...because whether you ant to admit it or not, some of your workers are GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS. So, no...I will not bring the complaints directly to you. I did that and it did nothing. Abilities took our money and gave us no results. If this hurts their feelings then so be it...this is the world we live in. Like I said, maybe they are tailor-made for autism and speech pathology, but my child doesn't fall into either. And once again, we forgive and we do not sue. Be grateful. Train your employees better; observe them more; do the right things; stop half-a**ing stuff.
