College prep school (grades 1-12) for children with language-based learning differences, including dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia.
AIM Academy is the vision of a team of professional educators, community leaders, concerned parents, and a devoted grandfather who recognized that the Philadelphia region needed to expand the programs and research-to-practice approaches for children with learning disabilities. While other schools in the region offer learning-disabled children an education, AIM incorporates visual and performing arts with rigorous academics to meet the individual learning styles of its students. Academy students "live it and learn it" through educational immersion, research-based learning strategies, and assistive technology.
AIM's curriculum is modeled after the highly successful academic program created by Sally Smith of The Lab School of Washington®. For almost 40 years, The Lab School has been teaching children with learning disabilities with over 90% of its graduates going on to attend college. The curriculum is flexible enough to meet the needs of individual students while incorporating cutting-edge research-to-practice techniques and technologies.
AIM Academy is a center for professional development for educators in the Delaware Valley who will acquire and then disseminate the latest research-to-practice applications in schools throughout the region. AIM has affiliations with St. Joseph's University, Temple University, West Chester University, Cabrini College, Thomas Jefferson University, Chestnut Hill College.
