Be careful. I stayed here for a year, and I left the place with some real nightmares. 1. The place I stayed had a view of the inner courtyard, which is pretty much just a wall & AC vent, and there's zero sunlight throughout the day unlike what the management said 2. The AC vent was incredibly noisy, almost as loud as an airport. It made it nearly impossible to get any sleep. 3. Like other people say, the walls are very thin. 4. There was a pest infestation issue - regularly saw roaches even though I was clean. Not surprising because the apartment was so dark all day. 5. The management was not helpful for any of the issues I mentioned above. Be cautious. It gave me such a horrible experience and I left the whole city.
The Aspen is the best rental experience I’ve ever had, starting from the time I moved in last year. It was a seamless move-in process with clear communication and automated move-in checklists. Management consistently asks for feedback. The community spaces are attractive but not over-the-top, I personally don’t want to feel or pay for living like I’m in a hotel. General maintenance across the building is well kept up and the maintenance crew is immediately responsive to any requests, small or large. I love spending time on the cute roof with lots of sun chairs and grilling chicken for dinner — it’s also a nice social space and I feel like I’ve gotten to know so many other residents through events the management puts together. There’s a lot of convenience across communication, I prefer in-person but you can do everything through the online portal. The community manager takes his responsibility very seriously and the concierge workers are friendly! I am confident I will renew my lease considering the location is gold. The Aspen is right next to both the red and yellow/green metro lines, a Safeway, dog parks, and a ton of food and other services that you likely frequent.
Tyler at concierge has a bad attitude and is extremley rude towards tenants who want to collect packages. Half of the time she sits in the leasing office, so tenants are waiting around to collect their packages. Don’t make myself and other tenants wait because you are chatting to the leasing agents. Even when she comes out of the leasing office to retrieve packages she has a major attitude and you can tell from her face that she is mad because she had to do her job. Also shes on personal calls a lot instead of taking care of tenants.
I have been living at The Aspen Apartments for 9 months and so far I have had an excellent experience. The administration is amazing and is attentive to solve any problem. He often organizes events on special dates in the amenities of the building that are really nice and always very clean. In the morning there are always snacks available to take away! The building is located in Mount Vernon, is a neighborhood that is close to everything and very safe. My apartment is really comfortable, I receive natural light and in my opinion it offers an excellent quality-price ratio.
A friend of mine is a resident at the Aspen, and I've visited there several times and been very impressed and a little jealous, to be honest! I've gone with my friend to a few of the events there and had a great time mingling with the staff and other residents - everyone is super friendly! The rooftop is an amazing spot to hang out/grill in the summer, and they also have a really cool club room inside for colder months. I can't wait until my current lease is up so I can rent at the Aspen!
I’m coming up on one year at the Aspen and am very happy with my experience. The staff is very friendly and happy to assist whenever needed. The leasing manager, Georgina, is fantastic, responsive, and always available for any questions I have. the building is well maintained and any maintenance requests I submit are addressed right away. I have a dog and I couldn’t be happier with the pet amenities and friendliness of the staff towards my dog. The location is very convenient for me and more shops and restaurants are opening in the area all the time .
I absolutely loved my time living in the Aspen Apartments. It was the perfect place for me right downtown and easy walking distance to my office on 14th St. and you can't ask for a nicer and more helpful team to run the building/rental operations. From the front desk staff up to the building manager, every single person who works here is so kind and makes the building feel like home. I would recommend the Aspen to anyone looking to rent in DC! Please note this was not a paid review, as I saw someone mention below. I lived here for 15 months and couldn't have had a better experience.
The location is really great. Right down the street from a Safeway, one of the best spots for breakfast sandwiches is right down the street and the staff is really nice. It's not a big building by any means but the customer service is really attentive and the apartments are nice. There are a lot of events hosted here and perks to living here, including the Alfred service which will tidy up your apartment and run errands for you. This is great if you have a busy schedule!
I can't say enough good good things about living at the Aspen. The staff is amazing Georgina, Jasmin, Devon and everyone else. They make everything run super smoothly. The facilities including the gym are super always clean and the common spaces are almost always available and well maintained. I would absolutely recommend it!
Quiet location, pet friendly, high security. 24 hours concierge.
