Came here to try their new Uni Special Course dinner. We were happy to taste all the different dishes that were well prepared and the serving size was perfect.Food: 5/5
Really good food here! Got the lunch special where you get a bunch of stuff plus your choice of two items. I got the sashimi and butter fish. It was about $30+ for the set. We also got sake samplers ~$27 which was refreshing. Was a little surprised when the server asked why I gave so little tips at the end. Had given 12%, which I know is not a huge amount, but at the same time, the service was pretty normal, not extraordinary or anything. He asked if the food was not good or something and we said the food was good, we had just arrived in Hawaii so not sure what is expected here. Maybe a lot of tourists come so they expect a lot? Anyways I thought we gave a reasonable amount but ended up giveing another $5 after the server said that.
The resturant is inside the building, they can validate your parking : Spot shrimp sushi was sweet. Monfish live was processed perfectly, not too fishy at all. Appertizer sampler is also recommeneded. At the bluefin tuna 6 pic sashimi is the best of the night. The beef and uni bowl is just ok, I won't recommened :
Nice Japanese Restaurant in town on King Street across from the bike shop. Lots of room in 2 big dining areas. The upper level is BYOB and has big windows and lots of light.the portions are fair and the sashimi is fresh. The staff is very nice and friendly. Don't forget, you have to request a glass of water. There are many choices on the menu so we will have to come back soon and try more.
Omakase course tonight @$100 per person. Different from other Omakase restaurant. This is more like a full course KaiSeki set menu. Great value. Tasted the same as eating in Japan. House Hot Sale only @$9.5 for two people!! The Japanese hot tea taste great is free of charge!! We will be back with more friends. Not a big restaurant. Definitely need to make reservation ahead of time
This place is a hidden gem! We got their teishoku sets, which are fantastic value for the amount of food you get whether you do 1 or 2 choice for entrees. It tasted great too, the chicken katsu and shrimp tempura entrees were excellent. Service is fast and attentive. The only potential issue is parking. Other reviews mention a valet lot, but we weren’t able to find the entrance to that despite circling the block twice. We ended up parking on the street, which is fine since it’s free after 6pm.
It's a super brand new Japanese restaurant. My big Boss recommended this place so 3 of us came for 9 dishes Akira kaiseki tasting course today. I had a hard time finding the entrance of Vallet parking though...it's on the young street side and a blue sign said Eleven50. Anyhow... very nice decor and all of the servers are nice and very helpful. We enjoyed all of our dishes. We wish there's a explanation of each dish though....dish's portion was more for the smaller sidebecause its a tasting course but at the end of our course my tummy was full and happy We will love to try all of other dishes in the menu next time!
Very nice dining experience, authentic Japanese cuisine and preparation, the chef wears a tie. The set was a great deal and they had some nice seasonal offerings.
Akira bento plates are really good I git the Mother's day special it was worth the price it included everything except the miso soup. The waygu steak was top grade and cooked just right so tender almost melted in my mouth. The menu has a lot of choices will definitely be returning.
This place is amazing and the fact that it is a 4.4 star place cements my distrust of google reviews. We did the omakase course and it was worth every penny. We will be dreaming about the miso butter fish for the rest of our lives. This is the closest I have come to feeling like I was back in Japan that I have gotten in the states.
