A beautiful building on massive grounds, the theater is worth a few minutes to wander around and I'm sure the production they put on are lovely as well. The small outside amphitheatre is a nice place for a picnic on an off day while the rest of the grounds are open for a nice walk. With the free admission high art museum being not a mile away, there are few better places to spend a day with the family.

I prefer to see plays in the small Octagon theater where the cast is so close you feel like you are in the story. The larger theater is also good for large audiences. Regardless, the Players always seem to get you in the audience involved in some way.
I recommend planning your day around seeing a play here. Visit the museum before or after the show, and also dinner at one of the many fine restaurants in the area.

Wonderful show! Great cast.... pulled the audience of children in, and kept them enthralled! Not an easy task with our students! Bravo! Kudos for the "Ice Queen"
And THIS bench in the gardens behind the theater.... is where my sweet husband proposed to me. It was broken then, and we jokingly call it "our broken bench"LOL
But I come here to take our children's pictures here on it every year, we take anniversary pictures on it...every year. It holds a very special place in my heart.

A beautiful theater set in beautiful grounds. If you haven't been, you need to go. A true gem for the State of Alabama.

Saw "Twelfth Knight," and enjoyed every second of it. A brilliant and skillfully executed interpretation, it won't be the last I see from this troupe.
