The Albert Einstein Memorial is definitely worth checking out. The statue of Einstein is huge! I loved the green scenery behind it and the rose bushes infront of it. The information board is worth the read with an awesome quote from Einstein. The floor that he sits in represents the "celestial map." Super cool!
I love the simple yet subtle complexity of this memorial. I liked it when it was more hidden behind the trees, felt like a special gem to come across. Regardless, I recommend checking it out. The dais is loaded with metal studs representing thousands of astronomical objects, fun to try to recognize some on your own.
My 9 year old and I really enjoyed this statue! It is slightly off the main mall, but still close enough for a little detour. It had just rained so sadly no lap pictures for us this time, but we plan to come back and take more pictures. The details in the statue are gorgeous.
I took my preschooler to visit the Lincoln Memorial and she found it meh. But this statue of Albert Einstein - she loved it! She easily would have spent 3 hours climbing all over it if I had let her stay that long. I saw lots of other kids enjoying it too. The statue seems built to be climbable by kids.
I give this memorial 5 stars because it is peaceful and not political. It is somewhat hidden near the Federal Reserve and across constitution avenue from the war memorials. Tourists will find this memorial less crowded so you can enjoy and sit after walking around the Mall. Be sure to walk around the back of the memorial to read quotes from Einstein etched in the stone.
If you're sightseeing on the Mall near the Lincoln Memorial or the Vietnam Memorial, you've gotta stop by and say hi to Albert before you leave. It's a short walk maybe 5 minutes or less. Pretty cool.
Not sure how they built this one but it certainly is not like the smooth and polished statues you get used to seeing around DC. That said he's bigger than he appears in most pictures and he's located so close the Lincoln memorial that he's definitely worth visiting.
Lovely monument to visit and learn about Einstein's life a bit more. Spoiler: look at the back of the statue, you will find three phrases by Albert written there.
You cannot say you truly know Albert Einstein until you visit this statue.
While people all rush to Lincoln and Jefferson memorial, you spend some quality time with Einstein here.
